TCM has a neat link off their web site (TCM Turner Classic Movies) that gives you a 150,000 title movie data base and with a click of the mouse allows you to be 'reminded' when this movie will play again on TCM..
Which got me thinking:
Is there a web site for cable /satellite viewers of movie titles or television episodes where you can type in a title/episode # and the site will 'monitor' your cable or satellite listings , in your area of country and/or state or province where the TV listings are being listed continuously during the week, or month and when that title 'shows up' you'll get a reminder in the e-mail.
I think it is a good idea and was wondering if any one knows of such a service apart from what TCM offers for free .. ??

could be the next new Google..!!

I don't know if there's a website that does this, but its built into Vista Media Center if you get your TV through that. It has a separate movies guide section that shows you movies that are on now or upcoming in the next two weeks (as much guide data as you have at the time) based on their box art. You can also search and add movies for it to record automatically if it ever finds them.

The software BeyondTV also does this - allows the user to type in a title or keyword to search for and goes out to search - usually a 2 week span.

It'd be tough for a website to go out further than that as I'm sure the channels are always changing their lineups.

Yeah, but in Media Center it always keeps track of the keyword search, and updates the search and automatically records it as the guide updates. Say if I put in a search for Casino Royale or something, and its not on in the next two weeks, but is on a few months down the road, then it'll automatically set that to record when it sees it in the guide. Sorry if I wasn't clear about that in the last post.

Edit: Actually, apparently you can't do it that way for all movies by title. I haven't used the feature in a long time, so I might be misremembering. You can do movie search by director or actor, and it'll list their movies, and then you can pick one of them to record the next time its on whether its next week or months in the future, but apparently you can't just do it by the title as a keyword.

Yes that term Beyond TV and its site ( SnapStream Enterprise: TV search appliance for media monitoring) is what I had in mind.. Now if only there was a web site that could do the same.., . Find a certain episode of Seinfeld or that rare movie that never seems to be on.. and the Web site would look for this in the next two weeks every week from now on until you change, delete or acknowledge the request send form..

Even better: Here is a website that allows you to find your favorite move BACK ON THE BIG SCREEN!

Back on the Big Screen Listings
