The best part of the show for me was Sheryl. I don't own a single one of her CD's, but I'm always impressed by her when I see her. Seeing her just jump into anything the contestants performed was impressive. And she often sounded better than they did (definitely with Jacob and Love Hurts). Are there other artists who can do that? Sure. But it's not a comparison for me. If I like something, I don't care how difficult or unique it is. I only care that I got to experience something I liked. As for her going back on her previous comments, there's something to fixing what's wrong from within rather than being on the outside complaining. Kudos to the producers for helping these contestants enter the real world just a bit more.
I also consider this one of the best seasons of AI, if not the best. I'm digging the genre variety. Like Jeffery, I'm in if Jacob can do his gospel-tinged R&B with original songs. I like listening to Scotty sing, and I don't care a lick if he sticks to his genre and style without stretching. I'm glad to finally hear the judges saying that this season. The guy's a kid. When HE gets tired of doing the same thing, he'll stretch. And it'll be organic, instead of doing it because someone said "stretch". I could also see myself listening to a James Durbin CD. That brings me to Casey. He's the person I most hope gets a recording deal. I'd be concerned about him getting good songwriters and producers to work with, except he has enough musicianship where I think he can direct his own efforts to a great degree. I hope I get to hear him.

But as far as this competition goes, it's time for Jacob to go home. Thanks shouted out to the Ether for the few good gospel-tinged R&B performances he gave this classic R&B listener.
