WEll, just got off the phone with Fox here in Memphis and the news is not great. He said that they are not going to broadcast DTV any earlier than that projected by TitanTV. Also, they will not be broadcasting in HD at all. He said that it will either be 720p or 480p. Said, most likely will be 480p. What the hell? So what is Fox doing everywhere else? I thought that most were at least doing 720p. Are any networks doing 1080i at all?
So are these other standards 16:9 or not? Are ABC, NBC, CBS using 1080i and if not, is it at least 16:9?
Oh well, this sucks.

In most places, Fox is only doing 480p. They have never shown any interest in DTV beyond it's lowest requirement.

I was afraid of that. They will be doing the bare minimum to comply with the FCC regulations on DTV; switching to digital but not HDTV.
HDTV is 1080p, 1080i or 720p. 480p is the same as a progressive scan DVD player (which isn't bad). HDTV is always in 16:9 format. 480p can go either 16:9 or 4:3.
