Jay,
I was just joking with you. Hopefully, "Laura" is on the release schedule for the 2nd half of this year.

While a different studio..... TCM's Angel Eyes promos are exactly how I would market the noir titles. This was the era of smoldering women and badass men. I can picture in my head some really intense shots from noir titles. Build the mystery, show the seemy, the seedy, the sexy and the slinky, the downright, "mad, bad, and dangerous to know." Then rap it all in an ethereal sound with luscious pictures of the stars looking their best.

Nils:

Another must have for the noir line is Night and the City (1950).

Herb.

The Marx Brothers, The Flintstones and now a complete line of film noir... can it get any better than this....? :D

I'm going to be adding links to the reviews of the DVDs in this series, but I can't seem to find HTF reviews of the following titles:

All About Eve
Gentleman's Agreement
The Song of Bernadette
Anastasia
The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
Titanic
My Darling Clementine
The Diary of Anne Frank

I thought I remebered seeing at least reviews for Anastasia, Titanic, and My Darling Clementine - but when I tried every search criteria and every forum on HTF I kept coming up blank.

If there are reviews on HTF of any of the titles listed above please post the links here - thanks!

It is absolutely essential that the cult-noir titles GUN CRAZY and NIGHTMARE ALLEY are given a release early on. This is great news. Here's my request list:

NIGHTMARE ALLEY
GUN CRAZY
NIGHT AND THE CITY
FALLEN ANGEL
KISS OF DEATH
LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN
HOUSE OF BAMBOO
NO WAY OUT
WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

I think - was it in one of the chats? - that Fox has already given the thumbs up to Drums Along the Mohawk.

Has anyone heard when Fox will announce the information on the rest of their classic films for 2004 ? We found out about the Jan/April titles late last year. Are the the titles rumored in this thread actually being released or are they wish/hoped for titles? Drums Along the Mohawk/Jesse James/Young Mr. Lincoln would all be welcome additions.

Well, I just bought Sunrise at Costco in a 4-pack with Titanic, The Ox-Bow Incident, and The Mark of Zorro for $23. There were other combinations too.

Many Costco's still have these 4-packs available, but the price is $34.99 and stock is limited. This is still a fantastic bargain considering you get Sunrise for free. There are four different packs to choose from:

All About Eve
How Green Was My Valley
Love is a Many-Splendored Thing

Gentleman's Agreement
An Affair to Remember
The Song of Bernadette

Anastasia
The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
My Darling Clementine

Titanic
The Mark of Zorro
The Ox-Bow Incident

Each of those includes a copy of Sunrise.

The only titles not included with this promotion are:

The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
The Diary of Anne Frank

I don't think anyone's mentioned The Innocents yet... seems like that would be an excellent choice for the Studio Classics line.

Let's not of forget about:
Suez,
In old Chicago,
Alexander's Ragtime Band,
The rains came,
Rose of Washington Square,
Tin Pan Alley,
This above all,
Son of Fury,
The Gang's all here,
Hello Frisco, Hello,
With a sog in my heart...
and so many others that must be par tof the Studio Classic Collection. I know most of these were release on VHS, but none are available on DVD.
And is there any possibility for a Fox DVD release of "The Snows of Kilimajro"? Cause I've seen some PD releases, but they aren't satisfatory. A Fox restoration treatment would be awesome.

Sorry George,
The movie's name is actually With a Song in my heart and it was released in 1952 (and in Technicolor), starring Susan Hayward as the songstress Jane Froman. In fact, it's a great musical biography, with a full emotional performance from Susan whom for this role was nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award.
It needs desperately a dvd release.
