All quiet on the AVR507 front......

My brother said he played with the new 507 (cool blue lights!) and is very tempted...me too!

I'd love to hear more about the 507 as well.
I think there will be lots of posts when the 307/ref30 update ships.

The updates won't happen for several months. It typically takes about six months after the new ones are released before they offer the upgrades for the old ones.

As far as the AVR-507, yes the blue lights are cool. It will be 150X7,DD/EX, DTS/ES, DPLII, THX Ultra2, Neo, Matrix, dts 96/24. List price at $3998.99. This one will have a stepped volume control, new Motorola 56367 processor, source selector knob on the front panel, new universal remote (which is what the holdup is about), single power supply, no balanced inputs or outputs (the new Ref50 will have these) and high quality WBT binding posts on all channels. The new remote will be a hybrid LCD and hard button design and can control up to 20 components. It will be programmed via B&K software for the PC and thumb control for most functions. This is where the holdup is right now. They are getting the remote just right before they begin shipping. There will be a silver finish as well as the black. Hang in there, it will be my next unit.

Too bad they don't sell it without the MX700 - A VERY Expensive remote. MX500 users just wouldn't need it.
Just an opinion.

I notice a firewire input on the ref 50, the manual states that this is for "future" applications. Anyone know what that will bring?

Just icing on the cake to me... especially if you get a real good deal on the Ref50

So Chip did you get your Ref50 yet? If so anytime soon to hear a review?
