I think MS distributed Crimson Skys. They are the worst at supporting the features of their own console.
NFL Fever should have been 720p but wasn't.

I'm just praying Halo2 is at least 16x9 but I have my doubts.

Sunuva... this is getting annoying.

Microsoft only supports high definition and widescreen in pre-release screenshots, not in the games themselves.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies is 16X9, which suprised me. I only switched to full mode on my set, when 4:3 seemed to give me some odd dimensions. Suprising, but not totally, the european developers seem to be much better about putting in widescreen in their games as widescreen sets in europe and the uk have a larger penetration rate than here.

Bush will find Saddam and Bin Laden on the day Halo 2 is released and it isn't 480p(at least)/16x9.

Tony Hawk Underground on the Xbox (according to the box):

16x9 Yes
720p Yes
DD5.1 Yes
Custom Soundtracks Yes

It is odd that a year later, the few 720p games are the same ones as last year (THPS4 and NBA2k3)

BTW, IGN is claiming the PS2 version of THUG is 480p 16x9.

I'm getting the Xbox version.

10/29 Update:
Since I wanted the Toys R Us deal and for some unknown reason, they only had the PS2 version (the same thing happened to me when buying SSX 3) I ended up getting the PS2 version of THUG.
Despite what IGN says in their review, there is no 480p mode in this game, or I haven't found it yet.
Ehhh, it is such a step down from playing THPS4 in 720p to 480i on the PS2 for THUG.
Anyway, great game.

how do these XBOX 720p games look in 480p mode? better or worse than the average 480p game??

just curious since my tv doesn't do 720p.

thanks
I think 720p games run in 480p mode like any other 480p game. There is no up or down conversion, it just runs at a higher resolution at 720p (kinda of like a PC game).

I wanted to add that Top Spin REALLY looks bad on a widescreen tv.

Other games like Crimson Skies I didn't even notice.

But Top Spin really makes the players look stretched
post #586 of 719
i was REALLY looking forward to Top Spin...this sucks!!!
Yes, Top Spin is very stretched, but you do get used to it after an hour or so of playing, and the terrific gameplay more than makes up for the lack of widescreen support.

Same can be said for ESPN NHL. I was really ticked that it was 4:3, but after a few weeks of cooling off, I'm kinda used to the stretched look and the gameplay of course is top notch.

i'm hearing Rainbow Six 3 isn't 16:9 and looks awkward stretched.

No, it doesn't look horrible stretched, better than GR and GR:IT look actually. Similar to Splinter Cell stretched graphics I guess.

The developers said 480p, before release. The magazines said 720p in previews etc, and has been shown time & time again, mags frequently get "progressive", "480p" & "720p" all messed up. It's hardly a debacle.

I read everything about the Xbox version all through it's development. This game was to be 720p from day one (just like ESPN NFL 2k4). The screenshots were 720p (from a beta version). The magazines that I read 720p, know the difference between 480p and 720p. There were also multiple sources that claimed 720p for both games.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it seems like a debacle to me.

Apparently they had trouble with the Xbox's limited frame/texture memory so they turned the switch off. It is as simple as that. Just like ESPN NFL.

Looks very good stretched, hard to tell that it's not 16:9, but you can verify by looking at round objects in 4:3 mode vs 16:9 mode on your HDTV and clearly see that round stuff looks more circular in 4:3 mode.

Game features Live aware ONLY.

Man, that is misleading.
I saw the game at Best Buy and it says Xbox Live right on the top (unless I missed something).

Live Aware games should have a whole different indentifier on them just like downloadable content does.
