any wordon the specs for tiger woods on PS2?

sounds like i will probably wait to get this title for xbox instead of getting the ps2 - small chance for ps2 to get 480p support on this one.
Dave_olds - are you sure about Tiger Woods PGA tour 2003 for xbox being 480p compatible -

The IGN review stated "Does not run in progressive scan or support DPLII"
I checked it with my PJ and it reports running in 525p which is 480p actual.....If I pull up the menu it will report either 525I(interlaced)/525P(progressive)/720p etc...and when TW is running the menu reports 525p - it reads the input signal and automatically sets up accordingly...It can do either progressive or interlaced and reports this as progressive.

If someone with a TV or other verified info reports differently feel free to report it as something else. But that is available to me is showing as progressive....I cant force it to do either so I cant check it as interlaced.....

Thanks for checking Dave_Olds.

I don't understand why IGN review would say this since they have rarely indicated if xbox games are progressive or not in the past.

It appears that IGN is just copy and pasting reviews again for Xbox and PS2.
Actually, I was at my local store this weekend and someone returned the XBox Tiger Woods Golf BECAUSE it didn't support progressive scan.

hmm...is tiger woods at least 16:9?

i might end up getting the PS2 version if the xbox isn't 480p and/or 16:9.

can someone with the game and a tv that "locks into full" when a progressive signal is sent to it check to see if the game is indeed 480p or not?

thanks

Hey there,

As for Gamecube games in PLII, what do you guys listen to it in? Music or Cinema mode?

Cheers

I am amazed that this would be a deal breaker in a GOLF game

Maybe they read the IGN thing? or actually confirmed it?

Anyways, I posted a query in the TW2003 thread to see if those guy can report what their systems see...

I'm updating Tiger Woods 2003 (Xbox) as 480p. So far, the dissenting voices are a second-hand report & a review from IGN (which doesn't have the best track record), so I'm sticking with the report from an HTF'er. Anyone else who has this, please post your impressions as well.

Dave O,
What happened is that this guy came in, apparently a regular from how Rob was chatting with him, and he said that he wanted to return the game because it doesn't support 480p and it looks awful. He traded it for the PS2 version. So I said to him that I thought all XBox games had to support 480i/p at a minimum. He said the same, but I guess this slipped past QA.

He seemed to know his stuff, rather than some J6P off the street.

Dave F,
You'd think that, right? .

Hey guys:

I am a Xbox live Beta tester right now and it never dawned on me that I might find some HTF friends here. Anyone planning on buying Unreal or MechAsault? I would love to make you a friend and get some HTF teams going.

Thanks for your help! Great post!

If the Xbox games in the first post are 16x9 games does that mean that I can play the game in full mode on my Toshiba 50HX81? or are just the in game movies in a 16x9 ratio and then the rest of the game I will have to view in the Theater Wide 1 mode?

Thanks!

The 16:9 is in reference to the gameplay, so as long as your Xbox is set to widescreen in the dashboard, you are good to go. (Don't forget to enable 480p & 1080i also)

Hate to go off topic here... but I noticed a couple of recent posts by widescreen Toshiba owners...

Do any of you own NFLk23? Am I the only one who still has 1/2 inch black bars on the right an left side of the screen when in widescreen mode?

David:
Thanks David, I guess I have never noticed if I could do that on any of my games! That is great!

I wonder if Unreal, MechAsault, or Splinter Cell will be in 16x9 or 1080i? Any news on these games?

Andrew:
I don't own NFL2K3 so I have no idea, but I might could go rent it and find out for you. Let me know if you would like that.

Everyone:
Is anyone up for forming Mech Assault teams or Unreal teams that are HTFers? Please let us know....as a matter of fact I might just start a post of that topic and see if anyone will bite. Thanks!

Does anyone know if NHL 2003 for Xbox is 16:9. It has been out for a while and it is not listed in the table.

Thanks.

They aren't out until 11/18 & 11/12, so it'll be at least a few days for Mechassault and another week for Splinter Cell.

Can someone verify 480p as well as 16:9 for Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance for Xbox
post #142 of 719
Is Dragons Lair 3D, still going to launch Nov.18th?

I know it's gonna be 1080i, but how about 16:9??

John
John -

1080i/720p = HD standard = 16:9 required

So, I would assume that if Dragons Lair 3D supports 1080i, it would have to be 16:9. I don't think you'll see any game that supports HD resolutions that isn't 16:9, that wouldn't make sense.
Will Dragon's Lair be the first game in 1080i?

How is this possible? Does Xbox use a blue laser? Waht is the technology involved here?

I thought there was not a HD-DVD player technology out yet, and the Xbox has had it in it all this time?

Am I missing something here?

Thanks!
Do a search, you'll find plenty on the subject. Video games support higher than HD resolutions on PC's everyday. The Xbox is nothing more than a PC. We aren't talking about HD-DVD here, that's not how it works. The video chip scales the game to whatever screen resolutions that the video game and chip supports. In the Xbox world, the hardware supports 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. So far, the software has supported 3/4 of those, with 1080i coming this month in Dragons Lair.

Anyway, lets keep this thread for 16:9 discussions and if we want to talk tech or anything OT, start a different thread. The original thread got kinda out of hand that way and many were hoping this would be a simple update thread when confirmed 16:9 titles were found.

Anyone know if MGS Substance is gonna be 16x9?
I just got it and as far as I can tell, no 16x9 for MGS:S.

FIFA SOCCER 2002

480p = YES
16 x 9 = NO (but game looks very very good streched)
DD 5.1 = YES
just rented Tiger Woods 2003 for xbox to try and confirm or deny 480p:

it DOES seem to be 480p (my tv locks into full with a progressive signal, and i can't change the fill mode with Tiger Woods)

BUT it doesn't look 16:9 to me and it looks sort of silly stretched, and i didn't see a menu item to change to 16:9. This contradicts the initial post - why are there so many different reports on this title?
