Let's talk Beer - Page 9

Hey Zen, you ever been to Taps in Fullerton/Brea?

Ron, haven't been there. Did they have a stout? We were disappointed that Steelhead had discontinued their stout when we were there. Since it is on your way home and not far from Little Saigon, sounds like another after work mini-meet soon?

Usually when I'm at home in LB, Yardhouse has a wonderful selection and a $7 cab ride to my flat.

Side Note: Ron, we should share a bit more to our friends on that wonderful Moylans Double IPA nectar.

Taps has an Oatmeal Stout and an Imperial Russian Stout.

More Beer!

Great picture Mark. I’ve got to say I/m envious.

BTW, has anybody tried the offerings from the Kalamazoo Brewing Company—sold under the brand name of Bells.

They don’t distribute down here, but I was in Chicago recently and tried their Amber Ale, Pale Ale and Special Double Cream Stout.

Highly recommended.

Beautiful picture there Mark, brought a tear to my eye.

Zen, Zen, Zen. Damn you for posting that label. As much as I love the Ruination, the Moulan's Double IPA sits a notch above. One of my very favorites.

As for an after work meet, sounds good. Open invite to anyone as well.

Last night I enjoyed, for the first time, the Huntington Beach Pier Pale Ale. This one is a nice and very hoppy ale, solid copper color with a slight fruity nose. Goes down smooth with a little bit at the end. Very nice Pale Ale.

Peace Out~

Thank god that there are more people out there who appriciate a fine Beer. I have a bar around the corner fom my house who have over 100 beers on tap and in bottles. The sad thing is that whn I go in there the majority of the guys in the bar are Drinking BUD, BUD LIGHT, COORS LIGHT, MICH ULTRA and LITE. To me those are just spring water with an attitude.

There are some intersting beers listed here that I will have to try.

And a nasty attitude at that.

You got that right RON.

I fixed the link for the first picture. As you can see Lew, there is a lot of Bell's stuff in there. Hiding in the back is some Bell's Expedition Stout. Other stuff includes Westvleteren 12 and 8 (the unlabeled bottles), Three Floyds Dreadnaught, Stone AB, Ruination, Vertical Epic, Rochefort 10 and 8. Some killer stuff. I love having a selection of things to drink.

Lew, Mark and I briefly discussed some of the Bell's offerings a few months ago. Their Two Hearted Ale is now one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed with their Third Coast Beer. I hope it was just a bad batch, as I've heard only good things about it. I'll have to pick up another six pack before it goes on hiatus next month.

It looks like Kansas City is the closest distributor to you. Shame, that.

I finally picked up a six pack of Rogue Dead Guy Ale, and am enjoying it quite a bit. I would have gotten more enjoyment out of a six pack of Two Hearted, though.

By the way, Mark...nice selection of Great Lakes stuff! I'm particularly fond of their Eliot Ness, but I've only found one place locally that has it on tap. A number of places have the Dortmunder, though.

I haven't had the Elliot Ness but their Burning River rocks.

Mark, now that's utilization of space. Isn't cereal supposed to go in that cupboard?

Couldn't help but notice the Fuller's 1999, that is a brilliant brew. It can still be had out here at some Bristol Farms locations.

Hmmm, a little Chimay Blue, very nice.

Pranqster, a great Belgian mock copy.

Guys, this is an example of good beer storage. Notice he didn't photo all his brews lined up in a fridge.

Alright time to throw down, more pics please.

It is people such as you guys that will educate the BMC crowd.

Zen, thanks for the compliments. Yes, there's some great stuff in there. I even serve most of it in the proper glassware. Here's a big picture of the bar. The cereal is in the kitchen.

Glassware:

What, no stack of Dixie cups for the Bud Light?
Man, been here a couple months and never seen this thread, better late to the party than not showing up.

Well I'll get through the pages later, but I'll throw out some favorites first:

Three Floyds Brewing - Alpha King, Dreadnaught IPA
New Holland Brewing - Palelooza Pale Ale
Samual Smith's - Oatmeal Stout
Dogfish Head Craft Brewing - Everything really(Raison D'Etre, Indian Brown Ale, 90 Minute IPA)
Victory Brewing - Hop Devil IPA, StormKing Imperial Stout
Hacker-Pschorr - Oktoberfest

I'll have to get a picture of my small bottle collection up. Ok, now I'm gonna go read, take care.

Quick question: is it possible to order beer online? Some of this stuff isn't available at Liquor Barn.
Dome, regulations on importing alcohol vary from state to state. If I remember correctly, Kentucky residents aren't allowed to import alcohol unless they are traveling out of state, purchase it, and ship it home to themselves.

I had some peche lambic yesterday and it sure was tasty. It said that it's a belgian ale and I still don't know if it qualifies as a beer. Can anyone educate me on this product?

Three Floyds is probably my favorite brewer along with Stone.

Great picture of those glasses Mark. I have a very few—some that I picked up in Belgium, where you always get the beer served in the proper glass.
My wife and I went to Belgium, London, and Germany last November and brought back 24 beers (750ml, 30cl, 500ml, etc.) and 14 glasses!
Mark, very impressive. I simply make due with tulips, chalice and imperial pints. I would love a glass collection like that!

Check your local liquor warehouse style stores and Bristol Farms. Chimay is selling a gift pack complete with their chalice glass. You also get 3 12oz. samples of their Red, Blue and white. For those of us glass deficient.
Love Chimay, love the gift pack. I have 3 large Chimay chalices and 4 small ones.

Check out Stone's new glasses. They look very nice.

Just for info: Concerning the import of alchohol. I live in nw Montana. I had a wine collection at one time and imported alot. In most states it's illegal to import anything containing alchohol, some make it misdemeanors with hefty fines and others will slap you with a felony. Many people still belong to "Beer Clubs" and import it illegally but as long as it doesn't show up damaged many shippers ignore it. States that allow it are called reciprocal states. Some of those include California, Washington, Idaho, Colorado, and there are a few others. In Florida it's a felony for instance.

Ron, on your next LW run. Please pick up one bottle of
Fuller's 1845, add a nice cigar after your pour. Let me know what you think.
Wow Mark, those are nice glasses by Stone.
