The Ninth Configuration DVD ..Reviews? - Page 2

I have compared the new DVD to my crappy P&S Laserdisc and let me tell you it is a revelation to see this movie in widescreen again. Even though the movie needs to be restored the DVD is well worth the purchase. The Laser is just horrid. The audio quality is similar. Since I don't have an widescreen TV I can live without anamorphic video. Bottom line buy this disc if you love the movie and pray it gets restored someday.

The DVD is garbage.
The print they used for it was thin and damaged,
suffering from colour fade in the extreme.
The DVD is riddled with compression artifacts
and (you are right) the sound is terrible, distorting
and clipping all the time. The LD was better, except
it was in P&S. Warner should be ashamed to have
released the DVD, but honestly, now they are releasing
movies on P&S, I don't think they care about
much.

What Dean said.

Unfortunately, I don't see this one getting a restoration any time soon.

Anybody else have to adjust black level on this disc? I put the disc in last night on a regular tv and the "black bars" were gray. After adjusting the black level, it looked ok, but still a little weird.
