Testy Area 51 - Page 452

Can someone get Kiera a sandwich? I've been going to that very Blade Runner style rave spot every Friday. I need to take some camera-phone shots and post them. I will this Friday. So I will reveal a pic of my true self on Monday or Tuesday right here in the testy thread.

Zardoz is a masterpiece, btw.

ooh looking forward to it, didn't you post a picture here a couple of years ago?

You're a Zardoz fan too Zen I'd forgotten, I think Cees is too, Haggai?

What constitutes a bad film? Why does one person see a masterpiece and another a load of bollocks? Zardoz in my opinion is a prime example of a good director and good actors getting mired in shit. Happens to everyone, happened to William Friedkin with the disastrous Sorcerer (1977), Michael Cimino with the bloated Heaven's Gate, Spielberg with 1941. Boorman did it again in 1977 with the dire Exorcist II The Heretic. I'm a huge fan of Boorman's Excalibur though which I'm sure some think is shit. I like Michael Bay's Armageddon, a lot of you here think it's crap. Vastly differing opinions can be a little weird but makes the world a lot less boring.

I haven't seen Zardoz. Don't hold your breath about me seeing that one anytime soon.

Maybe...wasn't it a picnic shot? Or was it the one with a mexican gang member holding an alternator? This one will be for real and with the hottest women I can find in the club. Katie is coming down from Vegas...maybe we can get a whole HTF group shot. Since it is my 4th year anniversary here I think.

Steve, I loved Excalibur. Haggai, never got to 2046; I started the whole Six Feet Under can o' worms

Anyone got any Pepto'?

As a quick runner up in the "Threads not to read while eating" competition the DUNE SE thread is beginning to make me sick.

You probably dont want to turn off your Gmail SPAM filter for this one Steve.

hmmm amazing how many of those software threads end up as "my dvd is defective" threads, entire pages fly by as people complain about the case, the hubs or the picture freezing after about 100mins etc They should start a seperate thread and leave that thread on discussing Dune and the difference between this and other Dune editions, I'll probably be picking up Dune tomorrow but I won't be able to discuss it in that thread because people are no longer interested in the film itself.

Really looking forward to that now Zen.

You've been going thru Maltin's Film Guide, haven't you Ray? [Ray blushes] Or something of that ilk.

Some good films in the list, rubbing shoulders with some dodgy ones. Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold, Ray? Only worth keeping for Sharon Stone's hot pants [Steve blushes]. Psst why on earth would you want a silent version of Mark of Zorro? I suppose sound does get a bit boring after a while, you could always try turning down the volume on the Tyrone Power version Ray, aah great film that what, featuring one of the best screen sword fights, Basil Rathbone, great villain, great Sherlock Holmes too. I watched the colorized version recently [cue shrieks from the snoot corner], not as bad as other attempts I've witnessed, quite good actually, the faces don't look so pasty in this one. Let's see, what else have you got there... House of Flying Daggers, nice, Hero, even better. Major Dundee, watched recently, nice restoration, didn't like the new score much. Lifeforce, one of the best bad films ever, space vampire Mathilda May, what a gal, she can suck my lifeforce any day.

Forgot to mention, the new extended edition of David Lynch's Dune arrived this morning. Canadian region 1, but thankfully the French translation is limited to the specs leaflet, the metal case is gorgeous! Very classy, I'd say it was worth buying just for that damn case, especially for Dune fanatics, gor-ge-ous! I'll check out the contents later and report in, maybe run off some screenshots from the extended version.

Joe has a sig shot at last! Yay! Doesn't look much like Zhang Ziyi though, maybe it's the lighting...

Ha, that Carnal Knowledge poster is pretty hilarious, but not exactly...representative of what the film is!

Battle Beyond the Stars: Watch it! Oh man, the Space Truckers, the Kelvins ["they communicate by degrees of heat"], the Ishtar-idol spaceship -- one of the great bad films ever.
You can't go wrong with Dracula -- note: the filmmakers shone a blue pinlight in Lugosi's eyes to get that effect -- or with Metropolis -- there was some idiot trying to do a Marxist-Leninist analysis of this one in one of the Forums recently, and I though about telling him to shut the f*** up -- he though he could prove that Fritz Lang was a fascist, and a mysogenist, and a lot of other simple stupidity.
I have to admit to a fondness for King Kong vs. Godzilla, which used to get shown on TV around here on Saturdays, and it's worth noting that Logan's Run was shot here in Fort Worth.

M is also worth a look, by all reports -- keep meaning to see it myself.

M Chris? Bernard Lee was the best, better than Dame Judi Dench for sure!

Battle Beyond the Stars was good silly fun, I especially liked the voluptuous Sybil Danning as the bold Saint-Exmin of the Valkyrie, who utters the immortal line "You haven't lived until you've seen a Valkyrie go down!", ahem *cough*

Heheheh, loved Lifeforce. What's funny is, as a youngster when it came out, I thought it was a cinematic masterpiece. How about Strange Invaders? +Yawn+ Hot Chocolate just doesn't give you the boost that coffee and Red Bull do eh? Well, I'm only here more often as I was promoted...by title, not so much pay.....and am running an internet division. I don't think they are keystroking my division. Now, Logan's Run I was speechless as a youth after I walked out of the theater. I just thought I had witnessed history. I think that was my first glimpse into light-porn with the see-through green dresses. I was like, how can they show this?....on screen! Oh, the innocence to backdoormamacitas.com. It's kinda like Nacho Cheese Doritos.

Try this link Elijah there's a plot synopsis and screenshots of Mathilda May as the Space Vampire, the original novel by Colin Wilson was called Space Vampires. Instead of sucking blood these aliens suck your lifeforce. Lots of nudity and bad dialogue what more can you ask?

You know I've been wanting to try my Jedi powers out for a while. So when Lauren and I went to the theatre to see Kong a while back, I thought I would give it a go. The dude behind the counter couldnt find a pen for me to sign the credit card receipt with. So I looked him in the eyes, and with a casual wave of the hand I said "You do not need to sign this receipt, move along". I think all of that Jedi action might have made him a little queazy cause he just stared at me like I was the least funny being on the face of the earth at that moment, and then handed me the biggest sharpie marker you have ever seen to sign with.

I always imagined that would work better than it did. I guess I should hold off on trying it on the cop if I get pulled over

I don't think they know....or they haven't said anything. Testy Area51 was on a banned list that was ciculated in our company. If I remember right though it listed it as testyarea51.com. This was before the whole keystroker drama and they knew who was going where. However they had listed it it was funny. Especially, amongst Ebay, rotten.com, some asst. porn sites and then TESTY... LOL
