I wonder why this isn't a summer movie.

October 13, according to imdb.

I've read elsewhere that the trailer will be shown with Lady in the Water.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

That means it'll be online.

October 13. This is still my most anticipated film of the year. The bad news, I often disagree with the specific CHUD critic (though he's a great writer). The good news...he's probably right about this one

That CHUD review got me pretty stoked. And three months now seems like an awfully long time.

The US one sheet:

Moriarty (a big fan of the original script) has also seen it:

Without breaking embargo, I can say that the poster goes a long way toward summing up the mood of the film without really ruining anything. It’s an exquisite image for an exquisite film. If I was going to try to give you a hint of what I’ll eventually write, I’d say this...

Acts of faith. Acts of devotion. Acts of love. In Darren Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN, these are all the same thing, the acts that connect his characters to something larger. The greatest miracle of this beautiful, human science-fiction story is that he's managed to make a film about infinity that pays full service to the subject while managing to only run 98 minutes. Not many films can blow your mind and break your heart at the same time, but this one will.

Damn.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

This film should've been out a year ago. I can't take waiting for another Aronofsky to hit theatres. I've been anticipating his follow-up to Requiem for a long time now and those two reviews are going to make the waiting worse.

October needs to hurry up. More than likely, it'll be my favorite film of this year if those two reviews are to trusted. This is the film I hope sends him into a new stratosphere in terms of directors.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

Interesting one sheet. A bit of a throwback to the great sci-fi novel covers.

Too early for the reviews to get me THAT excited...but they are

Thanks for posting the one sheet, Mike.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

What's even more depressing is that the Graphic Novel has been on backorder for months, and a sealed copy goes for a ton on ebay. I have nothing to quench my thirst at the moment .

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

I still have a sealed HC (waiting to see the film first). Booyah!!!

But...I'm not selling it, so who cares

Mike, they'll rerelease it closer to the film. No worries.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

Yeah, I figured as much - I just want the HC, and not the crummy looking soft cover, the art is much nicer on the HC...cover .

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

How much are these going for on E-BAY...I have one opened and one sealed? Is it really worth something?? That's nuts!!

70 bucks or so, Michael - My copy is sitting on "waiting to ship" at amazon at 25.19, and they better hop to it sometime this century . And the price is continually climbing, might I add - could probably reach 100 if it doesn't get a reprint any time soon.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

Yeah $70 is a bit....but at that price I'm deffinately going to be holding on to both of my copies....even at a$100 I'm going to hang tight....But I'd drop my second copy if it got really high...$200 plus....perhaps if the movie does well and it doesn't get a reprint! It is awesome and the artowkr is gorgeous...I love how BIG the book is....I'm really looking forward to this flick...I heart Aronofsky

New Fountain trailer is up @ http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/thefountain/...

Hope it rocks

EDIT: Oh, it most certainly does rock

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

The trailer is utterly beyond description. Part of me wants to expend significant hyperbole in praising it, but I wouldn't do it justice. So, just check out the trailer

Proof that a budget is merely secondary to the vision of a brilliant director.

The. Freaking. Trailer. Was. Messed. Up. Before. Lady. In. The. Water.

Then I had to sit through Lady in the Water.

I need one of those machines we had in science class in high school that cleans your eyes in case you get poison in them.

That trailer is just something else. I'm actually tempted to go pay to see Lady in the Water just to see this on the big screen, something I'm NEVER tempted to do.

Honestly, It would have been worth the 2 hours of my time I'll never get back if it were displayed correctly (about 50% off it was cut off and it was stretched a ton vertically).

Not like it would have had any effect on the crowd whom I was with, had to be one of the worst audiences I've had to sit alongside in a long time.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

It's hard to imagine this failing. Of course M. Night has had a couple of films with decent trailers that haven't panned out on screen as a smoothly flowing idea.

But still Aronofsky is a more promising and talented director anyway. I'm caught up in the hype too.

Re: Darren Aronofsky's sci-fi epic "The Fountain" set to go

Most of my posts in this thread have indicated that this is my most anticipated film. And it is, and it has been since I found out it was coming out this year. But that simply doesn't do justice to how excited I am for this movie The trailer couldn't have been better. Even with my anticipation, it completely blew me away. If Hugh had to karmically be in Van Helsing for this...it was actually worth it
