How about this:
Mercedes M-Class: Balanescu Quartet - Robots. It's a cover of a Kraftwerk song.

Why?
Why do you keep hounding me and harassing me and hounding me?
It's not like I don't have anything better to do, you know.
It's not like the Phantom Cruiser is going to wax itself.
It's not like last night's burrito stain will just up and remove itself from my cape.

Personally, I find "Ya Ya" to be an even better song -- you just can't beat that cheesy Casio-tone synth solo in the middle!

The whole album was great... I was commenting more that if it wasn't for the VW commerical, they wouldn't even qualify for a "whatever happened to..." special on VH1
Most of the time ...like Bargain by The Who.... they just annoy me and ruin the song
Still waiting for Townsend to sell Squeeze Box to Viagra

My personal favorite car ad remains the Nissan 300ZX ad featuring Barbie/GI Joe/Ken with Van Halen's cover of the Kinks' "You Really Got Me."

it's the VW Jetta VR6 in that wedding ad. I wish I knew the song because I'm also currently looking for it. Hope that info helps.
[edit]I found the song using adcritic.com. It's J Ralph - One Million Miles Away.[/edit]

I think The Who song is "won't get fooled again." That's off the top of my head. I think Baba O' Reily was also used in another commercial.

The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" -- Nissan commercial
Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of Jimi's "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" -- Nissan commercial as well, I believe....

there's another Mitsubishi commercial (SUV I think) that uses an old Marc Bolan/T Rex tune. i can't remember the name of it though, but as soon as I heard it I knew it sounded like T Rex. All I can remember is that it has "Boy" in the title.

What you need by Inxs was used for Chevy trucks for a while. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "like a rock", the Bob Segar tune that Chevrolet has been using since 1991. Time for a new song chev!
