For a long time, Conan the Barbarian has been my favorite film. Recently, I got a DVD player and bought the CE. Now, thanks to the improved picture, the awesome added scenes, and all the Milius commentary explaining stuff, it is my favorite film by an even larger margin.
I have also enjoyed Conan the Destroyer for many years, although as I have matured from a kid it hasn't seemed so "cool" anymore and is much lighter, stupider, and less enjoyable, although still watchable and better than Red Sonja, the horrible Kull the Conqueror, and most other S&S films. Ever since reading the Jordan novelization, however, I've been aching for a more mature version of this film. The original Conan stories and books were about Conan kicking ass and getting the girl, not about silly humor. I appreciate that they wanted a movie that the kids could watch, but Conan simply doesn't fit that description. To try and make a Conan movie otherwise was simply a mistake. Even so, I have continued to watch my old Destroyer VHS.
However, I have refused to buy the current Destroyer DVD with its reputedly crappy video transfer. Now that I know that there is an R-rated cut already being assembled, I won't settle for a Region-1 anamorphic deal either. It's all or nothing. Conan fans have been waiting long enough, we want blood! Give it the R-rated, anamorphic, Collector's edition deal with trailers and all. Commentary is not necessary (in the CtB commentary Arnold basically just made an idiot of himself), but it would certainly be an added bonus and incentive.
So yes, please, give us Conan the Destroyer CE!!!
