UNIVERSAL - Please consider an Uncut Collectors Edition of Conan the Destroyer

Thread Starter
I think it would be a great idea to release a CE of Conan the Destroyer like was done with Conan the Barbarian. Many Conan fans were dissapointed with the decision to edit the film to receive the PG rating. It would be nice to see this film released with an anamorphic transfer and containing the scenes that were cut out for the theatrical release like was done with the ending in CtB. With interest in fantasy films on the rise once again, I think it would be a great time for a title such as this to be rereleased.

UPDATED: here is the e-mail address so people can write to universal requesting the conan se dvd, if you are not able to call them.. thank you.

I would very much want a Conan The Destroyer CE. There was alot of footage cut for a PG rating. I have a site on actress Sarah Douglas. She played Queen Taramis. www.sarah-douglas.com
I have a petition to get the Conan The Destroyer as CE and to see her missing scenes, that includes a love scene with her and Arnold.

Yes, I would love to see an new cut of Conan the Destroyer, with an R rating. It was rather dumb to make the original cut a PG, so please release this with an R, making it more un par with it's older brother, and much better film, Conan the Barbarian.

if you read the conan the destroyer novel. it has alot of the missing scenes. Sarah was able to keep her clothes on during the love scene with arnold. the movie would of been rated R for violences. I still want to see the UNCUT VERSION. Maybe a commentary with Sarah and Arnold.

I would want this DVD too if it was uncut and it was a true special edition with a new soundtrack.

I am bumping it up to the front.

I will buy Conan the Destroyer Special Edition if you make it the first day it is released. I only buy Special Editions so DO IT! MAke it Rated R like it was intended!

I'd certainly be curious to see another version than the existing one. Take that however you like.

But cut footage of this sort is one of the reasons DVD exists. If there's a market for a title, please give the paying fans what they want.

Supergirl got a Limited Edition 2-disc set. Need I say more?

Conan was not meant to be censored!

A good DTS 5.1 or, heck, a complete DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 remix, please of the uncut version!

the conan the barbarian got only a mono soundtrack. the first release of conan the destroyer was also mono. I am not sure about DTS.. but a 5.1 would be nice. who knows.

thanks guys for your support. I knew their were other people who want to see the uncut version just like me!

Conan rules, I would buy Destroyer if the only supplement was an Arnold commentary like the first one. But I'd love to see it uncut and with some cast and crew recollections.

I am also all for a uncut.

I would love to have a complete Arnold collection, so I would certainly buy it.

I'll fork over some cash for an anamorphic CE of this movie. It'll be a plus if it were uncut.
Euh, I think it's more important that Universal remasters the mono of CONAN THE BARBARIAN: even if much of the distorsion was remvoded, the PCM on the laserdisc still sound better, often much better. You CAN do better than that 2.0 mono 192kbps...........

Then we can talk about the DESTROYER......

I heard they couldn't find all the material for the soundtrack for conan the barbarian.. DOn;t quote me on that.

Uhh, I knew that was David's post before I even read the name

Of course, David has a point ...and personally (having the Original Conan Soundtrack which IS in Stereo) I have never understood why Universal has never gone back and at least layed down the stereo music tracks over the monorial ones in the movie, and attempted to steer some of the monorial sound FX into a crude stereo soundstage. That needs to happen as well. But, Hey ...this is a Conan The Destroyer support thread, and I think that getting the entire uncut CTD in special edition format is a bit more interesting at the moment.

Hey Universal, why don't you start by doing CTD with at least stereo music, and then "go back and re-release" (I know that is your favorite phrase) the original Conan with stereo music and sound.
I heard that they couldn't find the music or had some legal problem with getting the stero. I don't remember.. If conan is only in mono.. I am okay with that..I am more concern about the uncut and other extra features.

www.dvdfile.com is reporting that MGM is releasing a special edition of Conan The Destroyer for REGION 2.

WE need more support for region 1.

Maybe now that people can see the box art on DVD File they will give more support to this thread.

Universal: We Want Conan The Destroyer Special Edition!

(keep that R2 box art as well)
I have a petition on my site that features another poster for Conan The Destroyer. I think it was the teaser. Either poster would work for me.

you should also write to dvdfile.. if they get alot of response about the region 2 version.. they can pass the info to Universal.

The R2 release looks kewl! However, it sounds like it will be the PG version perhaps (too soon to tell). Problem arises that if Universal does decide to do a SE (at the moment they say they're not) then I highly doubt they'd license the MGM doc (who's releasing the R2 version).
Lucky I have a region free player .
Cheers.

probably true.. Universal owns all of the extra material.. its a good start. the region 2 dvd probably won;t be out until early next year. I am just guessing.. they are still working on the documentary.. Basil did the interview last month.
