I absolutely love this movie and would by a special edition in a heartbeat. I am not a big fan of the high price for the bare bones disc out now.

Billy Wilder is old, but he's still alive. The fact that there are no Billy Wilder commentaries is a real shame. That would be a great extra on a special edition of this.

It would be nice if the world's greatest living director were to record commentaries for posterity's sake. Then again, I don't know what kind of mental and physical shape he's in, and if I ever reach his age, I hope people would let me do what I damn well want!

I confess I have seen only one of his films, and I would buy a decent SE of it in a second. The Apartment. I'm strongly looking forward to see more of his films over the years...

Given that Paramount have at least released Stalag 17 on DVD and are already known to be working on "Sunset Boulevard", the Billy Wilder film that they really should get around to releasing soon is his 1951 masterpiece "The Big Carnival" (aka "Ace In The Hole"). This never appeared on laserdisc and I don't think it's even been on VHS, although I could be wrong. Anyway, this is a film crying out for a good DVD transfer.

Martin Blythe, are you reading this?! How about it?
