The WWE™ - Page 15

There's several examples of where race/sex/national origin/etc have been played up in the WWE. I don't think they're necessarily stating that what B&C are doing is wrong, it's just a gimmick and to say that it's anything more than that is just being a bit too sensitive, IMO.

Agreed. Now if they were playing up B&C as heels solely based on their sexual orientation, now that might be a different story.

Thursday will be interesting.

Raw was fun last night. The Hot Lesbian Action bit was ok. And the main event, the 4 man elimination was pretty good too.

I had taped Smackdown from last week and just finished watching it last night. Man, how funny was that 6 man tag team? Kurt Angle and Eric Benoit start fighting each other and Eddy Guerrero is left alone in the ring with his 3 opponents (Taker, Edge and Rakishi) behind him. His expression and reaction had me on floor laughing my ass off! . Very entertaining.

I thought that Raw was marginal last night. Not too much of the physical action drew my interest, and I thought the HLA bit was stupid. Is anyone else tired of Rosie and Jamal? They need to either do something interesting or disappear.
I think Jerry Lawler has got to go, he was so annoying last night. A color commentator has to do more than say 'HLA JR' all night long.

Here's 1 for you guys: if you could get rid of all the wrestlers or anyone else in the WWE, who would you get rid of?

I loved that too. Eddy is just great.

That would be CHRIS Benoit

Booker T- I can't stand him

Brock Lesner- He's boring, all he is is a wall of muscle

Stephanie-She can't even act at the base level wrestling requires. Viva la Shane! Not only is he funny, but he's an amazing performer

Virtually every single playma..woman wrestler

DDP- Old, boring

Hogan- ditto, how much longer will Hulkamania keep him afloat? My guess is that he has about 12 months unless he pulls off another Wrestlemania miracle

Ric Flair is dangerously skirting this area

Bring Back

Mick Foley, in ANY capacity. Maybe even as just a writer/occasional face. Mick is the greatest

Shane McMahon- see Stephanie

I would re-team the Dudleys, Hardeys, and Edge & Christian. or at least E&C and the Hardys.

Lol, I wonder where I got Eric from.
Jeff,

You don't have to worry about DDP - he has officially retired at the request of his doctors.

As for Flair, if Hogan should be gone, Flair should already be as Flair is like 50 years old. Flair was great in his day, but he tarnishes his legacy by staying out there and getting cheap victories or destroyed by today's stars.
I'd get rid of Ric Flair and Hogan. They need to let go gracefully. I actually like Brock. He a bit rough around the edges, and needs to learn how to speak, but he's great to watch in the ring.

Did you see on the today show this morning... they had Billy and Chuck on talking about there Commitment Ceremony thats airing tonight.. lol.. did anyone go to the taping tuesday night? it looks pretty funny.
The wwe is getting great reviews frrom the gay community for theyre story line.. they love it.
Why does everyone assume that just because there is a "gay" marriage on the WWE, that they are going to poke fun at gay people? Vince isn't stupid, for all the positive reviews it has been getting it would be near suicide to mess this up. Where Billy and Chuck go after this, who knows...I do know at the live events no one is really booing them as they did Goldust and Adrian Adonis.
Vince is pretty accurate when he says that his wrestling programs are a snapshot of current American life.

btw...I am not just a "fan" but a stockholder as well...

True. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance (Is the acronym GLAD?) has given their support to the Billy & Chuck angle because it hasn't relied on stereotypes. As we all know, this storyline has run its course, but I wonder what the alliance has to say about the HLA--hot lesbian action angle that played out on Raw last week?

Rekindled 10/21.....anybody been following the WWE lately? I must say I haven't watched a broadcast in a while, though I keep in tune with what's going on through the net, and read spoilers to see if there's anything I really need to catch on either Raw or Smackdown. So, have you guys been following? What are your impressions? And what the heck is going on with all the titles? No more IC title, and 2 Tag Titles?

Just thought I'd see if this thread had any life left in it.

Wow! I didn't think anyone else here watched....

I keep up with it every week, including going to a movie theater to watch the PPV's for $2.00...

No Mercy was a very good PPV...the HIAC match was very gruesome and bloody...

Bye bye IC title...what's the deal here? This was a pretty prestigious title back a few years ago...

2 tag titles? Who knows...I think they are REALLY wanting some competition...back when WCW was around, that was some of the best wrestling shows ever...now, no competition...no reason to "up the anty"...

Anyways...I just wanted to chime in...glad I found this thread...

Mabye we should start a discussion thread for every week like the other shows...

I read this online beforehand (since I'm on the west coast) and wanted to make a point to watch Raw but got caught up doing other stuff and before I knew it, it was 11pm. Haven't read any reaction to it anywhere else. I hope it doesn't bring down Triple H, who has always been a favorite of mine.

I think I remember seeing Stephanie McMahon is going to be on Howard Stern's TV show Wednesday (she was on the radio a little bit ago). Aside from the usual...um, Howard dialogue, she also touched on how if she and Triple H (she seems very enamored with him) broke up, it might be his end with the WWE. He says he'll probably retire from being an in-ring performer in about 5 years (which means after countless comebacks and special appearances, he'll be around for another 20) but I'd hate to see him leave the WWE prematurely because of something like this.

So how long until HHH/Lesnar title unification? They could do it quickly (Survivor Series), draw it out (Royal Rumble), or REALLY draw it out (Wrestlemania). I'd love to see it drawn out 'til WM, but they'd be hard pressed to keep it interesting. Also it'd be heel vs. heel, too. Has that every happened in a WM main event?

mike.
I can almost guarantee Lesner is a face in the next few months...he is a monster face waiting to happen...

With the Rock, Hogan, & Austin gone, the HUGE face presence just isn't there...

By WM, a HHH vs. Lesner (as a face) would be H-U-G-E...

-Mike
Lesner does not have the mic skills to be a good face

HHH has to be the face. It'll definately be Rock/Lesner

Hogan is basically out of the picture again in the WWE. His ego reared its head again, and unless Bisch can convince Vince to let him have Hogan for RAW (Biiiig mistake IMO if Vince allows it, he has to know what Hogan/BIsch did to WCW)

What do you mean by his ego reared its head again? What did he do?
Basically giving people a hard time about what he thought he should be doing

The old "I'm Hulk Hogan, and you need me more than I need you" attitude which lead to the "I only wrestle on PPVs, and get my own dressing room" attitude.

Part of what keeps the WWF together is that HHH laces his boots right next to the rookie that started last week, and that EVERYONE wrestles EVERY show.
Jeff, is that the reason why Hogan hasn't been around for a while, since Lesner beat the crap out of him, to be more exact? Because he got that attitude again?
Yup, Lesner beat the crap out of him TO take Hogan out of the picture
post #445 of 3869
Hogan can't be gone for good, can he?

Which brings me to my next question...what's with Stone Cold? Is he coming back?
I wouldn't ever say never to Hogan

Quote:

.

At this time, it's not looking good. The WWF fired him because he was not showing up for shows, and then he went and beat Debra. Bad bad publicity. Luckily they had already released him.
He's still under contract - he's suspended for now...
Michael, no, they formally fired him about a week before the incident
post #449 of 3869
Michael is right. Here's pretty much all the major news topics concerning Austin since the "incident".

http://www.411wrestling.com/news/ind...hp?topiccode=3

Austin isn't fired, he was "sent home". If he was fired, then he could wrestle for other promotions, and there is no way the WWE would even allow that possibility for a second, even without any other major wrestling promotions for him to jump to.

Usually when a wrestler isn't on the shows, it's because:

1- they've been let go (Austin, X-Pac, Scott Hall, etc)
2- injured (Maven, Kevin Nash & Kane until recently)
or
3- other work that takes them away from the ring (the Rock/movies, Al Snow/Taz/Ivory & others/Tough Enough)

When Hogan got hurt in that match against Lesner, I just took it as a work to give him some time off to polish off and promote his book (which is supposedly coming out within then next 2 months).

I recall Chyna also taking some time off for some plastic surgery and the WWF used a storyline in which Mark Henry had Chyna jailed. I think Austin did it at some point also to film a few episodes of Nash Bridges. Mark Henry was also gone for about a year to recover from an injury, then train for the toughest man in the world competition.
