The WWE™ - Page 13

Last time the WWF pulled the Canada vs America crap with The Hart Foundation, Canadiens cheered like hell for Brett and the boys and booed the American wrestlers. I don't recall the 9/11 reference(must've FF'd through it)If it touches a nerve that is exactly what it is supposed to do. I really don't mind it, I am not a big fan of being politically correct anyway. Quite frankly, I am surprised Vince hasn't used Tiger Ali Singh as the evil Middle Eatern heel yet. Should they have cut that promo? Probably not. Have we all seen worse on TV? Probably so.
If nothing else it lets people get a little their frustration and anger out about 9/11. My hat is off to Lance Storm for taking the heat for the good of the business. I will admit the America in distress T-shirts are a little disturbing...

Looks to be a good show, less than one week from Summerslam!

I'm sorry, but last night's Raw kinda blew. All that hype for Rock/HHH, and we get a No Contest?

And Fozzy??

Damn.

But doesn't that usually happen before a big PPV? I didn't expect a winner in that match, especially with Brock sitting in the audience. I told my wife what was going to happen before it went down. Very predictable. I'm waiting to see who's going to win the belt. The Rock usually doesn't have a problem jobing, but isn't Lesner a little "green" to be the WWE Champion? He hasn't had a belt since he's been there, and he's instantly in contention for the top? I don't know Rock's schedule, but the only way I could see him losing to Lesner is if he needs to disappear for a while to film a movie or something, and even then I don't know how I'd feel about him being champ. I like him and all, but WWE Champion? Hmmmm ...

I believe the Rock has to start shooting again in September, which makes me think Brock will win at Summerslam. Due to their similar backgrounds, I've heard a lot of people speculate that there could be a major feud between Brock & Kurt Angle following Summerslam. For what it's worth, there was an abundance of rumors about real-life heat between these two even before Brock came up to the WWE. However, I'm not sure that either is currently a strong enough personality as far as the fans go to carry a major storyline--especially with Angle as a heel. Kane is set to return, so I'd expect a big push for him as soon as he's back. Also, for what it's worth, I heard that somebody uncovered a new Titantron clip for Steve Austin while perusing the Titantron files over at WWE.com. I'm not sure how well he'd go over with the fans, based on his recent legal troubles, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him back.

I'm looking for some run-ins. Maybe Brock will interfere with Triple-H's match since he received a Super Kick from Michaels Monday. I know someone's going to interfer in the main event. The only question is who? The Rock can't lose in a fair match. Especially to a rookie. Don't get me wrong; I like Brock, and he's skilled, and has the look, but he's still a rookie. If he (The Rock) does lose, it'll be from someone coming in and nailing him.

I'm sure the fans will have no problem with Steve Austin returning. I don't think many of them know about the real reasons for his absence, and some might think it's a storyline. I doubt he'll return anytime soon though.

Rock has to shoot Helldorado soon so expect him to lose the belt to someone. If Lesnar will win the belt at SS, I think it'll be due to some interference (Hogan?) or there'll be some controversy over the decision. They'll also have to explain Rock's absence, so perhaps Lesnar could destroy Rock after the match.

Well since Rock is leaving shortly, he has to lose the belt. Lesnar is being brought up as "the Next Big Thing" so why couldn't he win outright on Sunday? I wish he would do more talking instead of just being Heyman's thug and not speaking much.
They started haveing Brock speak a bit more a while back, but then backed off. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brock injure the Rock at SummerSlam, necessitating his absence, but it does seem a bit too soon to make him the undisputed champion. One possible out would be to have Rock win somehow (although I'd like to see them continue Brock's streak), then have Brock crush him afterwards. Due to the convenient injury, Rock takes a leave of absence, vacating the belt and setting up a tournament or some sort of Battle Royal for the next PPV.

In a semi-related note, apparently Batista is set for a huge push as a face, which could be interesting. I've read that he and Brock Lesnar had some unbelievable matches against one another in OVW, when Batista was known as Leviathan. While he hasn't been given much talking time, he is one impressive looking wrestler, so it will be interesting to see what they do with him.

I'm also curious to see how they handle the Mysterio/Angle match. They've been doing a great job of building up Mysterio. The only logical outcome would be to have Angle win, but this would definitely ruin Angle's current diminished status. However, a loss for Mysterio could put a damper on his push. I personally think it was a silly matchup to begin with, unless the whole point is to get more interest in the Cruiserweight Division.
They backed off really quickly then. I didn't remember him doing much of anything on the mike. I really don't mind if he is the champ, but there could be some sort of re-match on RAW anyways I guess.
He does more bullying than mike work. Like punking Angle in the back after he ran in and interferred with his match. I haven't seen him cut a promo like the other wrestlers. Still, I don't see him as undisputed yet. Him and Batista as a tag team though ... that would be awsome!

Mysterio isn't going to win that match. It's going to be interesting seeing them go at it. He can lose the contacts, though ...

Batista is the monster that they have been pushing Lesnar as. If he can't talk well at all, I think it's best to let him be silent until he develops better mic skills, rather than making the mistake I feel they made with Lesnar. Isn't Leviathan a much better name than Batista? WWE has been really lazy with naming their wrestlers lately.

If Mysterio loses, I think he will still look good after the match as long as he puts up a good fight. I feel these two will have the best match at the PPV. Mysterio does need to lose the contacts. I thought they might have been okay if they were going for a superhero gimmick, but he's been talking normally, and it just looks ridiculous.

I think Lesner needs to go, he's got no personality and he's just a monster

Which is the kind Vince likes
I'm also a bit frustrated with the lackluster naming they've been having lately. Even Jim Ross stated that he didn't like Rosie & Jamal. How anyone could like this more than Kemo & Ekmo (the Island Boys), is beyond me. If they didn't want to use the Island gimmick, that's fine, but anything's better than Rosie & Jamal.

One possibility I see for the Mysterio/Angle match would be to use it to start getting Angle back as a face. If they have a fantastic match, and Angle plays it up good afterwards, it could help to get him back on the fans' good side. If he's really planning on leaving in December to get ready for the Olympics, I'm sure they want him to go out on a good note.

I'm hoping that, with the Summerslam match out of the way, they can get Mysterio involved with the Cruiserweight division full time, and actually take the time to develop it. They have some good personalities to work with, and I'm eager to see Knoble drop the belt. Of course, now that they have Shannon Moore working TV full time, perhaps we'll get lucky and see the reformation of 3-Count!

For those fans on here From Long Island, I was just at bestbuy in Westbury/Carle Place and when i got out of the store a WWE truck was coming down Old Country road headed to the Coliseum for Summerslam. First time ive seen there truck while on the road. Ill be at Raw Monday night. Cant wait
post #381 of 3869
Wow, Summerslam was damn good.

Brock being the new champ is exactly what the WWE needs. It was also great to see the Rock getting boos for the second time this year in the second biggest match of the year!
Why was the Rock getting boos?
I didn't get the PPV, but looking over the results I didn't see anything for Edge/Eddie Guerrero. Was this scrapped?
Edge got the pinfall. A very decent PPV.
Alot of counters at the end of the Rock/Brock match, and it was very well done.
Brock is still a loser. He doesn't deserve the title this early. How about Benoit? How about Edge? Someone who has paid their dues deserves it
post #386 of 3869
I had some friends over for SS, and we all agreed that it was a pretty good PPV. Lots of action, very little lip service. I mean VERY little. And a few surprises. All the matches were good, and I was pleasantly surprised by the Triple-H/Shawn Michaels match-up. Good stuff .

We all figured The Rock was going to lose, but we were surprised how he lost. We were expecting a run-in or several chair shots, but he let Brock win by pretty much dominating him. Very good match-up. Here's hoping they don't turn Brock into a Goldberg-clone. Say, didn't HHH say he had next? Now THAT will be a match-up ...

It's just been 'in style' to boo The Rock lately. He's had basically the same character for the last three years, and I think a lot of people want a change. That still doesn't mean he doesn't do the best damn mic work on the planet, end of discussion. Some may say he does the same thing in the ring all the time; well, so does everyone else in the damn company!

Personally, I'm getting sick of the title changing hands so quickly. C'mon, five times since Wrestlemania?!? It would've been refreshing to see The Rock or some other face keep the belt for a few months or more. They would continually overcome any screw job that would come their way. It's just tiring to see heels hold the belt for six-nine months at a time. We need new writers!

Keep in mind that this was a New York crowd that booed The Rock, and it seemed to me that no more than 25% of the crowd were against him. I consider New York, Philly, and Canadian wrestling fans to be the most vocal and intelligent among all in North America. I loved how The Rock played along with the heel reaction some were giving him.

Ah, to be a heel town

I remember when WCW came to the ACC in Toronto, Goldberg got booed like crazy... (But that was because we wanted Bret). They had to pipe in the Gooooldberg chants for TV.
...and I'm pretty sure we've always booed Rocky.
I still don't understand why the Rock gets boos. Is it because some people don't like him?
I thought he was the WWE's sweetheart after coming back from Hollywood.
