The WWE™ - Page 10

It's Bret, actually. Sorry, had to. Anyway, a few weeks ago, he suffered a concussion from a bike riding accident. It resulted in him having a stroke and ended up paralyzing most of his body. He's been regaining motion to his body as the days go on with rehibilitation but he's still in pretty bad shape right now.

Also, everything Bischoff said about the WWF was true. WCW was really kicking their ass in the ratings back when the NWO first debuted for a year or so straight. Then the Attitude era hit the WWF and they blew right past WCW to the point where WCW is no longer in business and their former president is now working for Vince.

The wrestling industry is a weird one.

Holy Crap! Bret was paralized? I did not know that.
Hope everything goes well in rehab. I wish him good luck.

So the NWO is what did it for WCW? I wonder why Vince decided to end that in WWE. Any ideas?

If only they had brought in Bischoff during the WCW or NWO invasion... I hope there will be major shake up; otherwise, he'll just be ineffective, playing the same role that Flair did.

There are many factors that did it for WCW. In my opinion, it was mainly due to the revolutionary Attitude product WWF was putting on and the oversaturation of WCW with 3 hours of Nitro and 2 hours of Thunder.

Vince ended the NWO because Nash got injured and will be out for at least 6 months. Also, X-Pac is supposedly unhappy with the company.

The Ultimate Warrior recently posted a new article on his website.

Yay! Thanks Dean. I turned the big 23 today.

Now that Bischoff is in WWE, I hope that there are not many other old ideas tht the WWE will try to re-use. Maybe with Bischoff we will actually get some new, fresh ideas.

Not that I'm hating WWE right now; I've been really enjoying it lately. New ideas would just be nice.

So now that Vince has dropped a nice size bomb on us, I wonder what he has planned for Thursday? I wonder if anyone's going to leak the info before then? Isn't SmackDown filmed on Tuesdays?

What killed WCW? Hogan killed WCW. Him holding the title for over a year and hardly ever defending it was the knife in the gut for WCW. After that there was really nothing WCW could do. The y put the belt on Goldberg, but that really didn't help because WWF was changing the face of wrestling with Austin as an anti-hero. WCW could do nothing that was as great as the Austin/McMahon feud or the HHH/Rocky feud. WCW brought the Warrior in for a lot of money and it was painful to watch Warrior talk in his absolute nonsense. When WCW bit the big one they had a promising Cruiser-Weight Tag Division. It was shame to see that go.

Some of my favorite WCW moments:

The Benoit/DDP/Raven feud.

The Benoit/Booker T Best of 7 series.

Jericho/Malenko feud (Conspiracy Victim)

Benoit/Bret Hart tribute to Owen match

Sting vs. Flair (I believe Sting's final match)

Sting giving The Giant the Scorpion Death Drop from the top rope to unify the Tag Titles

Ms. Hancock

WCW brought back the Ultimate Warrior? What year was that?
And what year did Stone Cold join the WWF?

Aaah, some names I had forgotten. Goldberg and Sting. Both of them big with WCW. Especially Sting. He was their icon for years! I wonder what they're up to.

Definitely. The spoilers are usually up on the internet for Smackdown late Tuesday nights. I'm probably going to stay away from them, but I can give you a web site to go to if you want to check them out later.

Just to be clear, Brett isn't paralysed. He did suffer a stroke after a bad concussion, but he will have to learn how to use the left half of his body again.
Recovery is going slow, but he is able to move, hes not "paralysed".

I don't get to watch wrestling much these days - between a 2 yr old daughter and a wife who can't stand it I don't get the opportunity. That being said I do like to go to a prowrestling website to catch the news and results. I'll definitely be headed there tonight to find out who the Smackdown GM will be. I just don't know that they will be able to pull as big a surprise as Bischoff. The easy guess would be Shane or Stephanie; I doubt they would go with a person who could be an active wrestler which pretty much eliminates Goldberg, Sting, or Austin. Foley would be interesting but it might be too much of a retread of past storylines. I guess we'll see in just a few hours.

As for the nWo, who knows? They could be gone - which is what I am leaning towards believing. But after getting Shawn Michaels back I don't think they'll just cast him off. You could see HHH and him hook up and start up a new D-X.
I was thinking they may announce HBK Shawn Michaels as the Smackdown GM.

I'm pulling for Foley. You can't have enough of Mick

If not Foley, Shane McMahon!

The Ultimate Warrior is a total fruitcake, no doubt about it
post #284 of 3869
There was a rumor that it was going to be Stephanie because she was scheduled to be at the show tonight. Although, this does not mean anything as she could have an appearance similar to Shane's last night on RAW.

I too would love to see Foley back.

LOL!

They'll have to pick someone who can go head-to-head with Bischoff. Since Vince McMahon is out, I predict that it'll be Roddy Piper or Dusty Rhodes.

I loved the Ultimate Warrior! He and Bob Backlund should have a debate.

Spoilers are up, I want to read them so bad!

Be strong Cameron...be strong.
Well, I read the spoilers. I don't want to ruin things for anyone who wants to wait til Thursday night so i won't say much. I will say that, as I figured, the announcement was a bit anti-climactic after the surprise Bischoff appearance. Now, if they can get Goldberg to come in....
A while back, when it was first revealed that Rey Mysterio, Jr. was in talks with WWE, I wondered if they'd make any mention of the Cruiserweight Tag belt, which was in his & Billy Kidman's hands when the WCW met its demise. Of course, at the time the WWE actually had a regular tag division, so this didn't seem like too much of a stretch. Now that they only have one regular tag team (B&C--Hogan & Edge were thrown together, and the Hardys are seldom seen together anymore, and aren't even on a show where they can compete for the tag title), the possibility of a second tag division--when they really don't have a first one to begin with--seems unlikely. I'd like to see them come up with a few more actual tag teams, and have them all on the same show. Hogan & Edge vs. Billy & Chuck just isn't a legitimate division.

Read the spoilers.

compared to the Bisch. However, Smackdown sounds like it should be pretty decent this week.

Why hasn't the WWE signed Goldberg? Does he not want to be part of it?

I mean, the guy has presence and he's been in movies. What's the deal?
As far as I know, part of the problem was buying out Goldberg's AOL Time Warner contract. I think that situation is over now and I think the WWE has had contact with him several times about joining.

He has recently been quoted as saying he'd be back in the ring in 2002. Whether he means WWE or not is yet to be seen.

Update:

From Goldberg's web site:

Quote:
"Suffice it to say, before 2002 is over, I definitely will have my boots on and (will be) wrestling again,” he said. “I can’t tell you where I’m going because I haven’t made a final decision. The fact is, I miss wrestling tremendously. I miss the adrenaline rush that I get from the fans. I miss entertaining, the interaction with the fans. I miss, first and foremost, the kids.

I wish Eric Bischoff good luck. I can’t say I’m startled by the news of him being their latest acquisition. I think he definitely has something to offer, which maybe could change the wrestling landscape in a positive way, i.e, a better product. His hiring (by the WWE) has no negative effect whatsoever on our relationship. Why should it? Why would it? As I said before, I hope the best for Eric Bischoff, which probably is contrary to the popular belief, as with most fairy tales out there.

Man, everyone has a website nowadays.

He says he'll be wrestling before the end of the year but doesn't know where yet. What else is there besides WWE?
Although nowhere near the size of WWE, there's NWA TNA headed up by Jeff Jarrett. They've got Scott Hall, Vince Russo, Jerry Lynn, Ken Shamrock and more.

I don't know much about them and have never seen any of their work.

I think if Goldberg signed up with these guys, it would prove that he is definitely not in it for the money. Even if he goes to WWE, he will be making considerably less than when in WCW. Maybe now that Bischoff is with WWE, he may be able to bring him over.

Does the new GM of Smackdown have the most grating voice a human being has ever had?

Chris
I was disappointed. I was expecting someone else as the GM. But it's his daughter so I guess he wanted to give her a job. She's hot though (Don't talk! Just lay there!)

Man, the Rock has lost a lot of weight. I guess he's taking his Hollywood career very seriously.

And that last scene with Triple H and Bischoff driving off together in a limo...I guess that means he's moving to Raw?
"I think if Goldberg signed up with these guys, it would prove that he is definitely not in it for the money"

Well, these guys arent going to make the money they used to. WCW offered him a ridiculous contract and its not like he's going to say "No" to the money.
Anyone who goes to work for WWE is pretty much accepting theyll make less money, its the only show in town now.
But Im sure Goldberg will probally make more than $1000 a match, then include PPV and merchandising and he'll still make a killing.

Yeah, Vince may be a billionaire, "dammit", but WCW had Turner's deeper pockets.

"And now, allow me introduce you to the new GM of Smackdown... TED TURNER!.

Wouldn't that be weird?

Anyone know whatever happened to Kane aka Glen Jacobs? When is he meant to return?
