For me it was the Matrix, at the time it was one of the most popular DVDs so my parents got it for me as a christmas present 3 years ago. Since then its bloated from 1 to 80 with Monty Python and the Holy Grail being DVD #80.

my first was a free reg1 copy of Goldeneye.

It came with my ifrst player - an imported Toshiba 3006.

Hell I was so green I watched it for ages in anamorphic mode as it filled more of the screen - it was four years ago!

For the record the in those days this 'vanilla' player cost £550 or approx $750.

Pi - seems an odd one, now that I think about it... I hadnt even seen the movie at the time. Cool DVD though!

Face/Off - I bought it the first day it came out.

American Pie. I bought a DVD player because I wanted to see the unrated version, needless to say the differences were disappointing. More Nadia my ass!

Almost 200 discs later I think I'm hooked.

Lethal Weapon and In the Line of Fire - not much was around in Early Fall 1997. I didn't want The Mask or Twister. I was too busy buying laserdiscs

The first DVD that I loved was Contact:SE. Great movie, great DVD's! They have come a long way in 4.5 years!!

Take care,
Chuck

My DVD player came with Unapix's calibration GOLD disc and a Sting DVD...

The first real disc I got was The Abyss: SE.

Still a great early DVD despite the non-anamorphic video.

Also, my two newest DVD's are the two Mickey and Silly Symphonies DVD's by Disney.

Don't laugh, but my first DVD was MI:2. I never saw it in the theater, and I wanted to show off the superior video quality of my new DVD player to my friends and I heard that that disc would get the job done. Needless to say, I don't think I've watched it since

My DVD player came with a coupon for two free DVDs from Columbia House and I got Goodfellas and Se7en. I upgraded to Se7en Platinum when it came out. I've since lost the Goodfellas flipper (which I don't miss too much) and am waiting for the SE version.

Since my ex girlfriend and myself went to go pick up my dvd player (on shear impulse which Ithink was the greatest thing, like something was telling me to go out and get one) I bought a few disks some that she would enjoy some that I would, in total I got

Nutty Professor
Ghost in the Shell
the Negotiator
the Matrix
