Hello everybody.
I am new to the whole TV / Home Theater world, and I have a bit of a problem...
I bought a 46" Samsung LED TV and a really nice media center from Ikea for it. The problem is that the base where the TV would sit is to small for the attached base that is on the TV. That makes it seem like I will have to mount in on the wall. Well Ikea sells a TV mount that looks pretty cheap, and where you mount it to is particleboard. So as you can tell I am pretty nervous about that, and wonder what all my options are or if you think it would hold with the Ikea Mount, or a better one.
TV = http://www.consolekingzshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/samsung-un46b7000.jpg (Isn't the exact one, but the base is the same)
Media SetUp = http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89896670/
Ikea Mount = http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90147936/
Thanks in advance for all the advise!

Your TV's base is more than 15 inches front to back?
The base has rubber feet. Those are all that matter. The rear of the stand can stick out the back. I have a 42" Hitachi sitting on a Directv HD HDVR. The DVR isn't even 12" deep. The stand is under 15", but the rubber feet fit on the DVR perfectly. The DVR isn't even as wide as the base either.
And, that "wall mount" isn't meant to use the particle board the stand came with. You are supposed to remove that and this goes on YOUR wall...
Which even with that, that is a pretty weak looking mount.

The base the TV is suppose to sit on is only like 7-8". I will measure and take some pictures when I get off work to show what I mean.
Thanks for the response so far though!

Apparently IKEA must be lax on their details then. Every single piece of Besta is 15 3/4 deep.
So, what there is in this one to loose half the depth is an IKEA screw up.

The base of the TV is about 11" long, and the base that the TV can sit on is about 8 1/2". My only idea is to cut a small hole in the bottom of the wood to push the base through...

I have almost thought about put mounting screws in the back of it, and run picture wire around the heads of the screws to hooks that I'll put into the wall to support it. I mean it does "fit", but a could inches hang over the edge and would be worried about it falling forward...or my cat walking across it and tipping it. I think the wire would support that to keep it from doing that. Comments?

How about a picture of this TV on this IKEA?
I still can't understand how a 15 3/4 inch stand is only 7 inches deep where the TV goes...unless you put the wrong board there.
Edit:
Now that I've downloaded the "put it together" instructions...
That is the dumbest wall unit I've ever seen. Essentially you are required to mount your TV to this stand...
It is obvious from the instructions...I don't even need to see it in person.
Edit 2:
Is there a way to "go back", without taking the entire thing back apart, to remove the two "mid-boards"(first step) and leave the TV area open? It "would make sense" that that would be an option for this thing...but,
I buy IKEA book cases all the time. Got like 40 of them in the house in various colors. They are cheap. That is why I buy them. Cheap enough that the 80 miles(and through Chicago) to get there is worth the meatballs...
But "makes sense" and IKEA....who's all rolling on the floor now...
