What as yet unreleased catalogue titles would u like to see in 2003?

post #1 of 344

Ok part II, these are the back catalogue titles I'd love to see on DVD that, as yet, haven't appeared on the format and, to my knowledge, are not scheduled for release:

Where Eagles Dare

The Battle of The Buldge

Catch A Thief

Suspicion

Shortcuts

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (The full version including the 2 minutes forgotten about when it was "restored" to it's director's cut in 1986...

The Hammer version of "Hound of the Baskervilles"

Disney's 20,000 leagues under the sea

Plus I think I speak for most when I request...

Star Wars Trilogy (preferably before 2006...)

All the Disney animated films - again do they seriously think we'll be buying dvd's in 2010???

Indiana Jones Trilogy

Back to the Future Trilogy (although this may be coming in 2002)

Go for it people

Mark,

Please realize that the studios have already
completed most of their release decisions for 2002.
Let's hope these are amongst them, and if not,
there's always 2003.

Besides the obvious....

* Little Big Man (Paramount)
* Twilight's Last Gleaming (Paramount)
* Scrooge (Paramount)
* On Golden Pond (Fox?)
* Voyage to the Center of the Earth (Fox)
* One Upon A Time in America (Warner)
* Twilight Zone: The Movie (Warner)
* Jerry Lewis Movies incl.Cinderfella (Mostly Paramount)
* White Heat (Warner)
* Angels With Dirty Faces (Warner)
* The Compleat Beatles (MGM)
* All the Bowery Boys movies
* Police Squad TV Series (Paramount)

On Golden Pond

That's by Live (now Artisan), and it's out on DVD. There's even a cheap bundle price with both On Golden Pond and Sophie's Choice.

Unless you are referring to the TV version with Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews.

Unreleased catalog titles I'd like to see...

All the remaining Spielberg movies. Everything he has directed and produced. Remastered versions of crap transfers, like Always and 1941. A non-flipper Color Purple.

Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins

That's about it...I still have four years worth of discs that I have yet to watch...

If I listed every catalog title I want and would buy, it would take me an hour. Seriously there are still over 300 titles that I'm anticipating. So, here are the 25, off the top of my head, that seem to be my most wanted. I excluded the obvious ones that will come eventually, and also the titles I believe to be in production (like All That Jazz, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, and Serpico, for instance)

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls
Coal Miner's Daughter
Don't Look Now
Forbidden Games
Gloria (Cassavettes version)
Husbands and Wives
I Confess
Imitation of Life (color version)
Lenny
Long Goodbye
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
Mildred Pierce
Music Box
My Own Private Idaho
Shame
Shampoo
Short Cuts
Streamers
Sweet Charity
Three Women
Treasure of Sierra Madre
Vincent & Theo
Virgin Spring
Weekend
What's Up Doc

post #12 of 344
I'm only including titles that have not been on DVD (even a crappy Madacy disc). I wouldn't rank SE's in the same place as brand new releases. Studios need to work on introducing more movies to the DVD format instead of fixing minor things like flipper discs and sub-par transfers. Some movies may have poor DVD's, but some don't have any at all. Besides, studios should get it right the first time so they don't waste time on SE's and reduce time for titles not even out yet.

Anyways...here's my list:

Around the World in Eighty Days [Both the 24fps and 30fps versions] (It is being restored at this moment, so hopefully a late 2002 date.)
Song of the South (Also being restored.)
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (BV mentioned it in Studio Day)
The Cameraman (Currently being restored by WB)
King Kong (Being restored by Lowry Digital)
The Grapes of Wrath (Fox is restoring it now.)
Ed Wood (also mentioned in SD)
more Disney cartoons (SD mention)
The Producers (Scheduled for 2002)
UHF (same thing)
Sunset Blvd. (Sched. for 2002)
Top Secret (same thing)

Would anyone be surprised if I mentioned Legend here?

Didn't think so.
post #19 of 344
I remember reading in here somewhere that

Dragonslayer

wouldn't be out in 2002, but
Martin Blythe restated, "Maybe 2003."

I can only hope the delay was due to
the existing elements needing work,
since the film is so dark, this might make sense,
even if the LD was anamorphic.

Funny thing is, with all these Wizard/Dragon/Sorecery
HIT films out right now, and with more to come,
I would hope Paramount would realize
they have one of the best sitting in storage!

Another vote for Young Sherlock Holmes.

I love this movie...I just do...Thank god for AMC, or else I would have:

A.) Probably never seen it.

B.) Not have the decent widescreen recording I do.

That is indeed good news. I didn't list ones that I know are coming soon or that there are reliable rumors about, so that makes what you're saying all the better!
