A Midnight Clear

This has always been a favorite WW II movie because of the story line not the action which there is little of. The copy released in the USA is letterbox 4x3 with 2 channel sound. Pretty poor.

Amazon U.K. has A Midnight Clear for pre-order DVD/Bluray on April 4th showing the distributor as "Second Sight Films". No mention on Amazon UK or Second Sight Films as to the region code for the Bluray. Maybe one of our good friends that resides in the UK can help us out on this or we will have to wait until the title is released. If the disc's are region coded 2/B I will buy the DVD because I have several region-free DVD players.

This was released by a tiny distributor theatrically (Intersight), and by Sony on DVD in North America. Second Sight has a pretty decent catalogue in the UK, which mirrors (to some extent) the MPI/Dark Sky catalogue in North America. My best guess is that it will be region B locked on BD and R2 on DVD.

A MIDNIGHT CLEAR was financed by Beacon Productions, which has done bigger-budget films for other studios, such as BRING IT ON for Universal. This was one of the few films they didn't put out through a major company; InterStar was a shortlived distribution company co-founded by Westinghouse that AFAIK put out three movies: this, HIGHLANDER 2: THE QUICKENING, and SPLIT SECOND with Rutger Hauer.

In some overseas territories MGM put this out on DVD in a 16x9 transfer that reportedly was better than Sony's non-anamorphic one. I don't know if Sony still has the rights or if they reverted back to Beacon, provided they are still active. As of couple years back, I met a producer with the company who said they were.

Of course, this means I don't know who to pester for a domestic Blu-Ray release. Sorry for that.
