Trailers up now..

At this point, I'm not interested in seeing a Bourne film without Damon.  That may change, but with them using some of the same characters from the previous films, it makes me look more negatively on this film.  If Damon didn't have any interest in doing another Bourne film, I might have felt differently, but the studio suits got involved and have muddy the waters for this franchise.

Similar to The Hunt for Red October. Great with Alec Baldwin.

Harrison Ford is good, but far to old to have played that part. IMHO it went downhill after the first one. Granted they were successful, but Alec Baldwin had everything necessary for the franchise to move forward and do financially well with him.

No Matt Damon???... Well thats spolied it for me

At first when I heard about Damon being gone I was leary, going to hold off judgement till I see it. I enjoyed the previous three too much to skip it.

I'm looking forward to it because I love the Bourne universe. The preview looks good.

I'm also just curious to see what they've come up with for this movie. It says its a new story created by writer/director Tony Gilroy. I don't know if that means it has no relation to the book of the same name from author Eric Van Lustbader. It's said to be a side story to the Bourne trilogy so it could make for an interesting dynamic if they want to do something with both Jeremy Renner and Matt Damon.

I had to go research some of this. Apparently Damon refused to do the movie because of his past relationship with this Director, and only wanted Paul Greengrass to direct. He's pupicly said that he hopes he could return in the future as Jason Bourne in a 5th movie. While this story shares the same title as the book, it does not follow that story.

Before I knew who they would cast in the lead role I had decided I probably would not go see this.  To me Damon was Bourne.  However, after watching the new trailer and it's new direction as well as seeing that they cast Jeremy Renner I can definitely get behind this.  I'd love to see Renner and Damon in one together.

The trailer made me go from "will wait for the Blu Ray" to "will see in theaters, as long as the reviews are decent", and I don't see many movies in theaters. I am a big fan of the first three movies.

It's interesting that Noah Vosen, Ezra Kramer, and Dr. Hirsch all appear to be in Legacy. I can think of three possibilities that would explain this:

1. They appear in flashbacks
2. Nothing happened to them after the events of the Bourne Ultimatum
3. The movie takes place before Ultimatum (and probably Supremacy, since the movies are set only weeks apart)

#3 seems most likely to me. If those three guys -- particularly Hirsch -- were allowed to keep working in the CIA after Bourne exposed them, it would really diminish the importance of the events in Ultimatum.

Since there were several years between Identity and Supremacy, I'm guessing Legacy takes place in that time period. But that raises other questions, like:

* If Noah Vosen worked to track down Aaron Cross -- whom the trailer implies is more skilled than Bourne -- why did he fail so often when going up against Bourne?

* Why isn't Ward Abbot in the movie?

* Why isn't Nicky Parsons in the movie?

My interest has definitely been piqued.

From reading about this, it seems to start pre-Identity, and finish post-Ultimatum, spanning a timeline across all three films. That explains why we'll see a number of the characters along the way I guess.
