Contrast and Clipping issue with my new PN51D8000

I'm trying to Calibrate it with the Spears and Munsil Disc.

Every setting so far worked perfectly and I have been readon how to do it on their website and cnet published their Calibration settings online. My issue is that in the "Contrast" and "Clipping" options on the Spears and Munsil disc, I seem to have too much "white".

Example, on the Contrast option, the bottom ramps (Seen here http://www.spearsandmunsil.com/articles/settingthecontrastcontrol.html) should all be seen but I can only see 3 of the white ramps on the bottom left.

In the "Clipping" option I have all 3 RGB colors set, but my white part on the top left is a solid white. No change of contrast or brightness has helped me in any way.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Ray

Set the contrast at 85 (when in Movie Mode) and adjust the backlight to your liking.

Sorry for the late reply. I've tried it all. Even a different BluRay player. I can't see any Bars past the left most 3 white ones. And even they are extremely faint. No change or any mode whatsoever lets me see the white squares in the "Clipping" option.

I have tried lowering Contrat, Brightness, baclighting, EVERYTHING. Nothing helps...

WOW, I figured it out...

I use an AVR 1912 Receiver and have my BluRay attached to it. Attaching it directly to the TV fixes my problem.

This article explains it.... wow, what do I do now?????? Apparently my Receiever messes with my picture, but I want to use my Home theater system while watching movies...

look at the receivers settings....there should be a "pass through" mode. Select this option.
