When I set up my new wireless Samsung BD-D6500 Blu-ray I discovered that the WiFi signal in my home is not sufficient (distance from router) to allow for Netflix movie streaming. How to I hard wire it to the internet? My internet provider is Time Warner Cable. Do I connect the player to the cable box via Ethernet cable?

Welcome to Home Theater Forum Mary Beth. Are you cable modem and wireless router the same box? If so there are probably some additional Ethernet ports on it. You need to get a cat5 or 6 Ethernet cable and plug one of these into the back on your Blu-ray player. If they are in the same area its a piece of cake, just get an pre-terminated cable from Amazon; you don't need an expensive one, cheapest that's the length you need will be fine.
If your Internet modem and router are in a different location there are a couple of things you can do:
- Run a long wire and terminate it (probably a pain)
- You can get a wireless repeater that will extend the range of your wireless Internet, something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-Universal-WN3000RP-Wi-Fi-Extender/dp/B004YAYM06/
- You can get a powerline kit: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-Powerline-200-Adapter-XAV1501/dp/B005276QS6/
You plug one of them into an outlet next to your router and connect it to your router via a short cat5 Ethernet cable. You plug the other one by your Blu-ray player and run a short Ethernet cable to the back of your Blu-ray player. This uses the electrical wiring in your home as a giant Ethernet cable. Note: this uses special adapters, never try to hook an Ethernet cable directly up to a power outlet.
Any of these should work for you.
