The best ones I know of are the Ken Burns documentary on Frank Lloyd Wright on PBS DVD
and "The Noel Coward Trilogy" - a 3 part biography on Kultur Video. Both of these are in print available on Amazon.

Whoops - did you mean the director Frank Lloyd? Sorry for the mistake if you did.. I doubt there is a documentary about him.

Yes, I did mean the Director Frank Lloyd; I get that mistake all the time. But thanks anyway for the help! :)

Dear Warren - Mea Culpa - I actually did find a 14 minute documentary on Frank Lloyd online - here's the link:

The South Bank Show did a terrific installment on Noel Coward that is one of the most interesting and enlightening biographies I've seen on him. Lots of interview clips from various places and times and a few excerpts from Together with Music that he did with Mary Martin (though the clips used were Coward solos).

While we're on the subject of Noey, as my Noel Coward besotted mother used to call him, isn't
it about time for a stand-alone DVD release of CAVALCADE, as well as the lovely but little-known
THE SCOUNDREL? And while I agree that the Noel Coward Trilogy is an invaluable addition to
anyone's DVD collection, you might want to think twice before buying the BBC Noel Coward
Collection. Joan Collins appears in all eight of the One Acts from TONIGHT AT 8:30 which comprise
Disc Four. The buzzing sound you'll hear in the background is Gertie Lawrence, spinning in
her grave ...

Where might I find a copy of this?

The Biography Channel used to play it quite often. I videotaped it eons ago, but I don't think I've ever taken the time to transfer that tape over to a DVD-R.

I just wanted to mention that the documentary on Noel Coward that I mentioned in an earlier post (the South Bank Show broadcast) is one of the bonus features on the upcoming David Lean Directs Noel Coward Criterion box set of features. I'm presently working on the set and noticed that it's one of the upcoming features. Looking forward to seeing it again.

I'd love to see the Producer's Showcase version of TONIGHT AT 8:30. Directed by Otto Preminger, it starred Ginger Rogers in three of the Coward playlets. It features Gig Young, Martyn Green with Trevor Howard repeating his BRIEF ENCOUNTER role. It does exist in England and was shown at a Noel Coward Centenniel several years ago. Dinah Shore and Ralph Bellamy also did a tv version of STILL LIFE! Margaret Sullivan and Wendell Corey did 1951 version of it for "Schlitz Playhouse," and there was a 1974 TV movie with Sophia Loren and Richard Burton. (And frankly I think Coward would have gotten a kick out of Joan Collins....Don't worry she doesn't play the Celia Johnson part in STILL LIFE.)

The more Coward on disc the better. I've wished for years that Together with Music would be released.
