Weekly RoundUp 2-7-2012 - Page 2

I'll tell you what's even lamer about Best Buy -- my store not only didn't have the (mini)-plushies displayed, no one knew about them, nor could they find any or verify that they were supposed to have had them in the store in the first place.  It took several "associates" and one customer service type to come to the conclusion that it must be some sort of mail-in deal.  They also didn't know (and absolutely didn't care) that they didn't have the 3-disc set -- all of this in spite of the fact that the Disney stand-up display hawks all of these things.  Not that I care about getting a plushie, believe me, but I was so put off by the ignorance and attitude that I walked out without buying the BD.  I just couldn't reward that.  Not this time.  They used to be second to none when it came to marketing new Disney releases.

I should have checked the chart more carefully, anyway -- Target's cheaper on Lady and the Tramp this week.  Providing they take the Disney coupons, which I think I've used there in the past.

I've never had any problem using them at Target. I actually went with Best Buy because of the plush not realizing it was going to be so small. I've gotten many of them over the years at Best Buy and my kids seem to enjoy them. They'll probably like the mini plush too, but I feel a bit duped.

Nice to see that Amazon dropped the price on the 2-disc Lady and the Tramp to $22.99 (from $24.99)--just in time to hit their pre-order price guarantee.  thumbsup.gif

I know I could have done better elsewhere...but the way things have been going the past couple weeks...this was all about convenience.

I put up the review for La Jetée/Sans Soleil earlier this evening. It can be found here.

I'll have The Rebound up tomorrow night. It just came today.

I pre-orderd Lady and the Tramp awhile back when Amazon was doing its $10 discount. I thought I paid $17.99 for the two-disc, but it's actually the three-disc! thumbsup.gif

Mike,

I dropped in to check out the deals on Lady and read about your recent health issues. Really hope you get better soon. I don't hit up the forum as much as I used to back in the day, but it's comforting to see your weekly roundup is still a fixture here. Thanks for keeping it up so faithfully.

I had the same experience. While there I browsed around and their selection of CDs was absolutely dismal. I went to Target and purchased the 3 disk with the Disney coupon. Best Buy continues to get less relevant every week.

Unfortunate, but most weeks the evidence points in that direction.  I think they are caring less and less about media (CDs, DVDs, BDs, etc.).

And in the mall near me, Best Buy has actually opened a separate store called "Best Buy Mobile" in which they only sell cell phone related stuff.  I think that's quite telling.  They continue to enlarge the phone area in their big mall storefront, too.  Must be where the action is right now.

Yuck.

Even with the general comedown in going into BB now and then these days, I never felt the full force of that Forbes article coming alive right in front of me like I did during this week's "Lady and the Tramp" debacle.  I very nearly said something about the article at a moment when I had the customer service counter person and two others talking with me, then decided why bother, I was so fed up at that point that all I wanted to do was get out of there and give my money to Target.  Which felt just fine the next day.

For the life of me I can;'t find this posted anywhere, but for those still looking for the best deal on Lady and the Tramp and have a ToysRUs near you.

Preorder cards for The Muppets are available:
$5 deposit which will allow a $10 immediate discount on another Disney title

Disney Movie Rewards coupon -- $8 off 3 disc combo

3 disc LATT combo (Blu+DVD+DC) -- $24.99 at TRU + $5 Gift Card for future purchase.

Net 24.99 - 10 - 8 + 5 = $11.99 plus a $5 GiftCard

Even if you never go back for the Muppets it still seems to be lowest cost I can find.

When The Muppets show up mid March, you already have a $10 headstart assuming you use the GC for that purchase plus whatever
coupon Disney will probably have. Hopefully another downstream preorder for Pocohontas or ??

Nice! But I think I'll still wait on the Disney Store deal on The Muppets -- it doesn't look like DMR is doing a coupon for it, but I should be able to use the $20 off on some jammies or something for my kid. smile.gif

Let's all send some good vibes to Mike.

His wife posted what looks like the reason for his recent health woes. So looks like they finally know what it is.
Mike I apologize if you didn't want this here but the more good vibes your way the better.
