HI all,

I am about to buy a Home theater, on the price range of $500. After doing a lot of research, I am between:

Sony BDV-E780W: wireless rear speakers, DLNA, IPod Dock, Wifi built in; or
Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home: seems to have overall better quality

FOr all the features I am about to go with sony, but would like recommendation from you

thanks

It's hard to beat a htib for features and price. The drawbacks are the E780 has a passive subwoofer, the amp section won't put out anywhere near the advertised 1000 watts, if one part breaks - like the Bluray player or amplifier - you have to replace the whole unit, inferior speakers and subwoofer and limited connection (although two hdmi inputs and two digital inputs isn't bad for a htib), Here's a link to the manual. Give it a good going over. http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDVE980W_780W.pdf

The Energy Take Classic 5.1 is a speaker/subwoofer package so you would still have to buy a receiver and Bluray Player ($300 +) but you would have a much better performing setup.

Also consider something like this: Pioneer 821 ($199) and Boston Acoustics speakers/subwoofer ($249 was $199 last week frown.gif ) from Amazon.

And add the BluRay player of your choice.
