My goal is to play video files from my tablet on my Plasma TV and hear the audio on my BluRay surround sound player.

Equipment:

Acer Iconia W500 Tablet
Phillips BluRay hts5100b_f7
Panasonic Viera TC-P42X3 plasma television

I am playing downloaded files on my tablet. I have a hdmi cable to my tv so I can watch them on there. Currently the sound comes out of my built in tv speakers. Is there a way I can rig it to come put of my BuRay surround speaker system?

Connect the audio output of the tablet to the input of the sound system.

Well then it would be analog audio if I did that because the only audio-out on the tablet is the headphone jack. But I found out that I can connect the tv to the BluRay with an optical audio cable, but I can't figure out how to get the sound to come out of the BluRay speakers. It is still coming out of the TV. Any suggestions?

That box will pull the digital audio out of the HDMI stream, convert it to optical and send it to your sound system. As an added benefit, you can connect multiple HDMI sources to it and do the same thing.
