The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Nice job, Adam. Get well, Mike!
I've been dying to get Das Boot, but have been waiting for a price break on the 2-disc edition. Now I have a decision to make: Do I get the new single disc release which only contains the director's cut and commentary, or do I hold out for a better price on the 2 disc set which has both cuts of the film and all the documentaries? I can do without the theatrical cut, which I'd probably never watch anyway, but I hate to lose the documentaries. confused.gif

Thanks Mark.  I have the same dilemma.  I don't know if I will have time to watch the documentary.  The $12.99 price is pretty tempting.  I really want to pick up Drive, Shakespeare in Love and Mockingbird (basic edition).  I'm waiting for Grand Canyon to drop to the $10 range to pick up.  My twins really want Treasure Buddies, so some of my list may have to wait.  The catalog releases have been killing me lately.  There are so many and are priced pretty good.  I just don't have the time to watch them all.

Get well soon, Mike!  You're my unofficial date every Saturday night around 9 pm!  tongue.gif

Only Next Gen on BD for me.  I'll probably run through the three episodes on Tuesday night just to see what new details I can glean after all these years.

Transformers 3D, Star Trek, and Phantom 25th for me. Thanks for the Round Up, Adam. Get well, Mike!
Phantom 25th (at least according to Amazon) isn't out until February 7. Too bad, 'cause I really got excited when I saw it in the Round-Up!

Shhhhh.  You are correct. I will remove it.  Don't tell Mike, I don't want to get fired.

I won't say a WORD. Clearly, gremlins got in and added that erroneous listing. Gremlins, I tell ya.

The back cover scans of the Starz/Anchor Bay (from Fox) titles (Grand Canyon, Monkeybone, The Scout) on DVD Empire's website show these are 1080i.

Strange that the previous S/AB releases from Fox (Bad Girls, License to Drive, Project X) all say 1080p.

Get well soon, Mike!

I'll be picking up Drive this week.

Get well soon, Mike and thanks for the prices, Adam! smile.gif

The Conversation is $7.99 on Best Buy.com
post #12 of 39

Hm. I could have picked up The English Patient at my Best Buy when I was doing the BD trade up, as they apparently had the title out before street date. Oh well.

The Conversation is a nice price.

Not only that, but new releases "Shakespeare in Love" and "Cold Mountain" are $7.99 as well. That's my price-point so I'll have to pick up all three on Tuesday.

I was lucky to get Patient when it was $9.99 on Amazon and Malcom X for $25 too. Although I am considering canceling X and waiting for a below $20

Nice deal! Thanks op!
These last two weeks are killing my wallet. I'm definitely picking up To Kill a Mockingbird and I still need to grab the Hitchcock's from last week. I'll probably get the Poirot's eventually and maybe the Transformers disc. There are others as well. Like I said, it's killing my wallet.

Any coupons out there for the new edition of Dark of the Moon?
I lucked out with a copy of English Patient priced at 9.99 and exchanged one of my BD trade ups from last week that I didn't remember has a crappy transfer (Out of Africa).

My store also had the English Patient priced to be on sale at $11.99. Amazon has also lowered their price to $12.99.

It appears that Magnificent Ambersons was quietly released on DVD yesterday. Amazon has it for $10.99.

Wow.  That just landed right in my amazon cart with a big ol' thud!  biggrin.gif  Thanks, Dennis!  And to think I got Best Buy's exclusive of Kane for just $10.99.  I think I did better than amazon's exclusive pairing of Kane/Ambersons!

BIG THANKS, of course, go to Adam Gregorich who very generously put together this week's RoundUp for everyone.  I hate slacking off from my "duties..." but things just couldn't be avoided this week.  I continue to be hospital-bound (since last Friday!).  I never thought this sequence of testing that I needed done would turn into a week-long hospital stay...but, it sure did.  And I might be here even longer.  Still trying to more specifically diagnose my pneumonia/bronchitis problem which I've had since the end of December and they are finding some strange things indeed.  I just hope they don't find anything too strange!  laugh.gif

Can anyone help out a hopelessly out-of-touch bargain hunter?  Will there be a Disney $5 coupon for next week's Lady & the Tramp?  I'm pretty sure I'll just ended up putting the 2-disc Blu/DVD combo pack in my amazon cart to make life easy on myself.  Also, does amazon take those coupons?  Are they active yet?

Thanks, Jason (and everyone else for the well-wishes!).  But, you realize Jason, that I don't things could ever work out between us...because when you see Saturday night at 9...I see Sunday morning at Midnight.  I just don't see us as compatible.  laugh.gif  You're probably a "glass half full" kind of guy, too!

Mike, I'm sorry you are having such a time of it and I hope they figure out what's going on soon and get you back to feeling well.

As far as I know, Amazon doesn't take the Disney coupons.

If that's the only reason, Mike, I think we can work it out.  But there are prolly...um...other...reasons too.  I'm sure your misses is kind of attached to you and I haven't been able to shake my mister for seven years.  biggrin.gif  (Not that we should want to get rid of either one of them, for the record...)

I just checked the Disney Movie Rewards site.  There is a Lady and the Tramp upgrade coupon listed: $8 off the 3 disc combo pack or $5 off the 2 disc combo pack.  I haven't tried to put the old UPC in and print the coupon, but it is there.  I haven't had a chance to figure out who has the best deal and all that jazz yet, though.

Nice, thanks Tony!

Anyone know if the $10 upgrade coupon was in the original DVD, or only in the Blu-Ray? It strikes me that I have a friend who got the DVD but doesn't have a BD player. . .

I jumped on the Amazon deal a couple months back, which put the price at 17.99. I'm assuming most places will have the two-disc for 24.99, so even in best case scenario where the $8 coupon gets used on the two-disc, the price would be very close. Plus I don't have to deal with Toys R Us. :D

I just received (but have yet to watch) what is purported to be an excellent Queen documentary Days of Our Lives.  My brother has seen parts of it and loved it.  I pre-ordered the DVD at got it for $10.99, but it's jumped up to $14.99.  The BD is priced at $16.99.  CAVEAT EMPTOR:  The DVD runs 165 mins, but the BD version has extended footage and runs 221 mins.!  I have seen NOTHING as to why the difference in running times occurs, and from the reviews on Amazon the extra footage is not HD...

Here's the link:Amazon.com: Queen: Days Of Our Lives: Queen, Matt O'Casey: Movies & TV

Amazon.com: Queen: Days Of Our Lives [Blu-ray]: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, Matt O'Casey: Movies & TV

And Mike, GET BETTER SOON!!!!  frown.gif

Awesome, I hadn't heard about that. The listing says it's from Eagle Rock Entertainment, which does the wonderful "Classic Albums" series of album docs (they did one on A Night at the Opera).
FYI: Amazon has finally dropped the price of the new Transformers 3 set to $24.99.

Get well soon, Mike!

And thanks for this WRU, Adam!

Lots of excellent classic/catalog titles this week, but will probably wait for better prices on some of them.

RE: English Patient and some other recent Lionsgate BD releases of Miramax titles, Costco is apparently carrying them for $8.99 each.  My wife just picked up The Piano for that price (plus the 3 Hitchcock BDs for $9.99 each).  Since I'm a B&N member and their site currently has English Patient and Frida at $9.99 each, I'm just gonna use some 20%-off coupons (and my Discover Card 10% cashback) w/ B&N instead.  Might order Cold Mountain from Amazon at their current price of $7.99.  Already got Shakespeare In Love as a UK import some time back.

Also, my Amazon preorder of Adaptation arrived earlier this week.  Can't wait to watch this one for the first time... cool.gif

Cheers!
