H/K AV 247 HDMI is suddenly not working????

I have the afore mentioned receiver that has been extremely faithful for the past few years. However, 2 days ago, the TV (Sharp Aquos) failed to pick up any signal nor were the speakers (H/K 5.1). Tests show the speakers are fine and the TV does work using other methods (s-video). I had the system set up "professionally" by a couple of young guys getting started when the economy was flush. They are since long gone. But as I said, the system has been operating very well (a few minor annoyances but nothing that impaired the overall quality). I have used a couple of other HDMI cables and at one point had the OSD up but after letting it expire to understand how to navigate through it, the HDMI connection was lost. I have changed from HDMI 5 to 6 on both receiver and TV and no signal. Also, while in HDMI mode the speaker indicators on the AVR 247 (Front R & L only one lit) flash in about a 3 second pattern on and off.

We have had some power outages due to weather, but I have everthing plugged into a Belkin PURE/AVE PF60.

Have called H/K support but didn't get anything past unplugging and the front panel reset which I am not sure I understood properly.

Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.

Peace.

".....and the front panel reset which I am not sure I understood properly."

Doing a factory reset will return all settings to factory default so you will have to completely setup the receiver again. The reset procedure is very simple. Put the receiver in Standby mode (turn it off smile.gif), then press and hold the Tone Mode button on the front panel for more than 5 seconds. "Reset" will flash on the display and the receiver will convert all settings back to the way they were when you first bought it. And maybe the HDMI output will start working again. If not then more than likely the HDMI board has been damaged or stopped functioning properly and the receiver will have to be repaired which might not make financial sense.

If the HDMI doesn't work correctly after the reset you can convert the connections to component for video and optical/coaxial digital for audio but of course, you will lose the benefits of HDMI. Otherwise, you'll need to buy a new receive since that one might not be worth repairing.
