I found this by chance the other day. The late 80s sitcom is now partially out on DVD in Germany. The title is Mein Vater ist ein Außerirdischer and it has both German and English soundtracks. It's a bit pricey for me - about $68 with shipping to the States. The set includes episodes from seasons 1 and 2 with some exceptions due to music clearance rights. According to Wiki those episodes are:
