The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--I am thoroughly confused as to whether there is a new Blu-ray release of The Apartment.  Half of my new release lists contain news of a release...but hardly any retailers (including amazon) are showing a release.  **EDIT:  Confirmed below.  Added above.  biggrin.gif

--Best Buy has a $5 off coupon for the 3-disc Real Steel Blu-ray combo pack this week.  Go to RealSteelCoupon.com/BestBuy.  Offer valid 1-24 thru 1-29-12.  Not compatible with other offers.  (I'm guessing that means you cannot stack the coupon with the Upgrade & Save program.)

--It is the last week of Best Buy's "Upgrade and Save" program.   Bring in your original DVD (no burned copies accepted) with the original case to Customer Service and receive a $5 off coupon valid on any Blu-ray movie priced $9.99 and up.  Excludes Blu-ray music titles.  See a Customer Specialist or visit BestBuy.com/upgradeandsave for more details about the Upgrade & Save promotion.  Limit 5 coupons per trip.  A recycling receipt must accompany the coupon at time of redemption.  Once you have received your coupon, if you do not find a Blu-ray, you are unable to get your turned-in DVD back.  Not valid with any other discount of package.  Markdown taken from original price.  Your original DVD must have been commercially packed and with the original case.  Adult content DVDs not accepted.  Not valid with any other offer.  Valid on in-stock Blu-ray movies only.  No cash value.  Offer valid 1-8-12 through 1-28-12.

--Here is a list of Blu-ray titles advertised this week as being eligible with the Best Buy program:

$9.99 ($4.99 after coupon):  Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Apollo 13, There's Something About Mary.

$14.99 ($9.99 after coupon):  Sucker Punch, Hall Pass, Clash of the Titans, Sherlock Holmes.

$19.99 ($14.99 after coupon):  The Hangover Part II, Scream 4, Crazy Stupid Love, Battle: Los Angeles, Captain America, Thor, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Super 8, Kung Fu Panda 2.

$24.99 ($19.99 after coupon):  Kung Fu Panda 2 3-D Combo Pack.

--Best Buy has an EXCLUSIVE release of the Scorpion's Get Your Sting and Blackout 3-D Blu-ray for $19.99.

--BB has Paranormal Activity 1 and Paranormal Activity 2 on sale this week:  $4.99 DVD/$9.99 Blu.

--Best Buy has the following TV Shows on DVD on sale this week:

$9.99:  Monk: Seasons 4-7 (apiece), Parks & Recreation: S1, Seinfeld: S 1 & 2, Seinfeld: Seasons 3-9 (apiece), SNL: Seasons 1-3 (apiece), Full House: Seasons 1-8 (apiece), Party Down: Seasons 1-2 (apiece).

$18.99:  Mike and Molly: Season 1, Fringe: S3.

$19.99:  Hawaii 5-0: S1 (2010), CSI Miami: S9.

Thanks for the Round Up! It's Memphis and Wings for me this week.
What a great week for catalog Blu.
Manhattan, Annie Hall, Notorious, Spellbound, Rebecca, and Wings.

Sure is.  And someone posted that the Hitchcocks were going to be $9.99 at Costco.  If so, you still never know when they'll show up on the rack there.

Thanks Mike.  I can confirm the Apartment.  MGM isn't sending out screeners until after street date these days, but Matt will get all the Hitchcock titles up after he receives them.  All the good catalog releases are killing me!  Stripes, Hitchcocks, The Toy and Wings for me this week.

I think we have a Wings contest coming up this week with a couple of copies to give away.  Stay tuned for that!

Thanks for this week's roundup Mike. 50/50, Moment of Truth and Real Steel are must get this week. Probables are Mahattan, Memphis and Godzilla.

Thanks as always for the RoundUp, Mike. I hope to have the Godzilla review up tonight. Two full length movies in HD plus a vast array of bonus material will take some time to wade through it all.

50/50 might really surprise some people out there. I don't know if I have to own it but it's definitely worth seeing.

If the Costco near me stocks those Hitchcock titles, I'll pick them up. If not, I'll wait for them to go on sale at some point.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

Wings and all the Hitchcocks for me!

I may double dip on Godzilla but will wait to see MattH's review first.  50/50 is a possible rental for me.  A couple other titles in the $15 Target TV double packs include The Brady Bunch and The Golden Girls.

Thanks as always, Mike...feeling better?

Cool, Adam.  I will add it to the pricing table then (and maybe even another image at the top!)

And it is so...

It is weird that Amazon isn't listing it...

definitely a week to break the bank on catalog titles,

waiting on the three Hitchcock's and wings from amazon pre order ( Hitch is my Xmas gift from sister-in-law)

also if any one is interested in the Jean Rollin  Blu's already got mine, Kino has a bundle of all 5 on their site lower than Amazon, like 104.00 but you have to get all 5 for the bundle.

How about right now.

Picked up these today. Also saw NxNW for 10.99
post #17 of 34

Thanks for the Round-Up, Mike!

I've seen the Hitchcocks at my Costco for $9.99 and will be purchasing them this week (Costco honors street dates usually even if an employee puts stuff out too early).  Wings is also on the list to purchase.

Also my Costco had two boxes of empty blu cases under the rack. I took ten and at checkout the person didn't seem to care. so I guess at some costcos you can get empty blu cases.

No cost?!?

Correct. Probably an anomaly. They had no barcode, so I'm not too sure what they were doing there.
Does anyone know if the new Buck Rogers set contains the re-edited television version of the pilot? The old Complete Series set only contained the theatrical version (and one disc only had one episode on it, so there was plenty of room to have included both cuts).

If this is just the Season 1 discs from the old set (even if they are separated onto single-sided discs), it seems an odd release, since that set is actually cheaper (at least on Amazon) and contains more episodes.

Matt has posted his review of Godzilla.  The link has been added to the OP.

Thanks for the unexpectedly early heads up on Costco!  Guess I have a little date with them tomorrow morning!

(Empty Blu cases???  Well what the hey, I could actually use a few so I'll keep my eye open.)

Thanks for the Roundup. Memphis has actually been available at theatres where the show is playing, and directly from the manufacturer, since October, but I'm glad to see that it is becoming more widely available this week (and cheaper too) and will finally be adding it to my collection Probably a curiosity blind buy on Wings at some point, too.
