Speakercraft center channel speaker suggestion.

I currently have an Onkyo TXNR-809 receiver with 4 in-ceiling Speakercraft AIM 8 two speakers (front / surround) along with a Polk sub. I'm looking for suggestions on a center channel speaker. I'd rather go in wall for the center channel and not in ceiling so that it's closer to the TV. I've been looking at the Speakercraft AIM LCR 3 but it says it's timbre matched to all 3/4 series speakers.... does it really make that much difference? Should I look at the AIM LCR 1 instead?

The goal is to match the front stage A lot of the dialog and effects come from all three, so if those don't match, the same audio will sound different from alternate speakers. So yes, you should go with the brand recommended center. Usually the surrounds and rears provide effects, and not the same track as the fronts, so there it doesn't matter as much.

And placing the center in-wall (or not in-ceiling) is a good choice for exactly the reason you gave, placing the dialog near the video.
