Pre-Meet Road Trip

Hello Everyone!

 

Kind of thinking things out here so bear with me.

 

We are all meeting in Los Angeles on Sunday October 21st.

 

However, I am thinking about starting my end of the

meet in San Francisco and driving down the Pacific Coast

Highway.

 

The plan would be to start out on Friday October 19th and

arrive in LA on the 20th -or- Saturday October 20th and 

arrive in LA on the 21st.

 

Would rent a car, take the trip down the Pacific Coast

Highway a little slowly, stopping along the way to take

pictures of the beautiful coastline.

 

One of our employees here at work recommended an

incredible Bed and Breakfast in Los Oso to stay overnight.

It is cheaper than a hotel, and they give you a stocked

refrigerator of beverages and snacks as well as cheese

and wine in the evening.

 

This is what the drive would look like on day one from 

San Francisco to Los Oso

What you see there is a 5 hour drive.  We would

probably do it in 7 hours or so taking our time.

 

I would love to possibly have some company along

for the ride.  The more people interested, the cheaper

the travel costs.

 

If anyone is possibly interested in coming in early and

taking a trip down the California coast, let me know your

thoughts.

I've made that drive twice and it's gorgeous. I've seen elephant seals up close and whales breaching.

I've done the drive from Monterey to San Luis Obispo, but unfortunately the latter part of the drive was at night, which was a little nerve wracking with the curved roads. Beautiful area though and it might be worth checking out Hearst Castle with a copy of Citizen Kane in hand. ;)

Me and jennifer would be interested, We will be starting are vacation in orlando for a few days "harry potter theme park" and all that. Then
get a flight to san fran.

Why is it that the theme from Vacation (Holiday Road) popped into my head as soon as I saw the thread title.  Sounds like a lot of fun, I'm not sure how we are handling the kids during the week so I will have to hold off until it gets closer to commit.

I'm definitely interested in this as well, please keep me posted on the details.

If it would save some $$$ for the initial road trip as well as for the week in LA, that'd just be a bonus.

I shouldn't have a problem getting the time off, but I'll need to check with Laurie and see what she can work out.

I'll also have to see how the price of flights differs from Hartford to SF vs. LA.

Will you be returning your rental car in LA and flying home from there?

The discussion is now turning into more specifics that include costs and otherwise

that I would rather not discuss in an open forum area.

Hi Richard.
Im plodding along. Jennifer health has gotten slightly worse, She had to quit her job in july because of her health. In december she had a pacemaker installed, She said she cant wait to test it at the airport biggrin.gif. We are going to orlando before the meet , Have to see the harry potter theme park.. Hope your well and look forward to seeing you again.

I'm sorry to hear about her health issues, but it's good to hear that both of you are going to be at the meet. I see that you are on the list for the Pacific Coast Highway trip. That will be spectacular.
