Lost Girl (SyFy) Season 1 Premiere

Tonight.

I actually like the potential concept here, but I'm unsure of how it will play out.

Seems like a Buffy ripp-off to me, but I will still check it out. Sure, they spiced up the whole super powers sort of thing but it's still a Buffy clone basically.

Lost Girl is a supernatural thriller about Bo, played by Anna Silk, a young woman whose kisses can kill. She learns that she is “fae” (“an evolutionary branch that predates humans”); specifically, she is a succubus. Two fae cops who act as unofficial liaisons between humans and the fae introduce her to the two fae clans. Bo must find her place in this universe. Two seasons have already run in Canada; the show has its U.S. premiere on Syfy tonight at 10.

So two complete seasons have already run in Canada... I wonder if this can be found on DVD anywhere already.

Pretty good show...kind of flying under the radar based upon the few comments here. Great casting of Bo's sidekick Kenzie.

Yeah...am watching this right now on Syfy, and it's not half-bad. The klepto-chick lightens shit up considerably.

Kenzi is to Lost Girl, what Bruce Campbell is to Burn Notice.

This was way better then I expected it to be.   I had very low expectations, a pleasant surprise.   Campy fun, for sure

Yeah, though I can't figure out how old she is.. I mean, I thought at first she was like a teen.   But now she's easily drinking away etc. so I'm thinking maybe.. 22? 23?   Still young.

Sure, it's a monster show.. but it manages to use the camp nature of the setup for some good fun.   It works in it's favor that the actors and characters all seem to be 'in on it' and enjoy the setup.

Watched number 2 last night. The sprite was inherently funny. I really enjoy the effects so far. The headless guy was a very cool effect. The stories seem fun so far and Anna Silk smiley_jawdrop.gif is gorgeous. I'm in for a few more.

It never hurts a show to have a hot girl as the lead.  Never.

I've seen previews the past few weeks at my hotel. We're getting the apartment, cable, and Tivos set up and I hope to get this on the Season Pass list and check it out.

My primary quibble was that a Succubus is not "Fae" it is a Demon.
I am hoping, that at some point, they make use of that idea.
Kenzi's note to Bo in the restaurant asking if she is an alien or a demon reinforces that thought in my mind.

I think in they kind of explain that.. at least in the mythos of this show, Fae is a genealogy rather different then past concepts; everything that is super-human is Fae bloodline, twisted in one way or another.. and that there are no "demons" it's just how humans perceive Dark Fae ;)

Boy did you nail that one.  This show makes no bones about openly trading on sex.. but instead of it being a goofball Skinemax type play, it comes across as a combination funny and a real way to explain her mythos; last night's ep - which went from a Fury to a deranged stalker girl friend had a good mix of the sex, comedy, action.. and I agree with the above about Kedzi.. maybe she's sidekick relief, but it does work.

I like that the backstory, of whatever is going on between the Fae sides is still slowly grinding in the background.

There is something pretty fun about this.   It's not homerun TV, but it's light and funny, I like the mythos they are creating.. to be honest, it reminds me a lot of Angel season 5.   And there is something about that whole concept that I enjoy a good deal.   The Kedzi character is like a walking anime figurine, and the dialog is appropriately snarky.

From a Maureen Ryan's post: SyFy has renewed for season 2 which is already in the can. The 22 episodes of S2 will air the week after the S1 finale on April 9. Also, the Canadian network that airs the show has committed to a third season so it looks like we'll have a good run.

FYI, the Season 1 DVD set is being released in late March in Canada for those interested. I preordered mine from Amazon. I didn't realize how much I missed a good Buffy/Angel type of show until I started watching this one.

Sweet news.   It's one of those off-the-wall finds that I've really enjoyed so far; I feel as though the show has gotten stronger as it's gone along, the cast is fun.. and the concept is good.     Knowing that there are at least three seasons on the way definitely helps me buy in.   :)

Really two seasons right now, at least for SyFy. If the ratings hold up they would be idiots not to buy the third season.

This show has the right mix of action, camp, supernatural events, comedy and sex factor.   While the Angel comparison is obvious, it also reminds me a bit of the first two seasons of Burn Notice.   This week's episode was pretty good stuff.

Some big goofy laughs tonight. The entire in house excorcism combined with some good action works.

The storyline revolving around The Ash is one of those quietly intriguing storylines.

Really enjoying this one. Fits right into my light fun/action/adventure wheelhouse.

Last night's ep was a great mix of backstory plus story of the week with some great one-liners "and I will be saving the world from robot hookers'

This has become a complete blast.   It's too bad it doesn't seem to get enough of a following, but it captures everything I love about early seasons of shows like Burn Notice.   Great stuff.

Liked the twist on top of meeting another succubus last night.   This isn't the best program on TV, but it is light breezy fun and when it works it's great fun.   The dialog is snappy and well delivered.   I like the general mythos they are building in this show.

I've said before this isn't the most rewarding show on TV, but it's a hell of a lot of fun.  And I get that Anna Silk is the draw, but holy hell, I have to admit, Kenzi to me.. crazy hot.

The dialog on this show also cracks me up; this is a good mix between a show like Buffy and something like Burn Notice.. just the right amount of tongue-in-cheek enjoy it it's a show type vibe going on.

Great way o wrap season 1. And with season two staring next week, a great way to keep it going. Really like the feel of this show.
