I've tried so many configurations and I'm obviously doing something wrong. Please help me connect all of the following devices so that I can get HDMI and surround sound to work on each if possible! Thank you in advance for your help!

I have the following:
4 port HDMI selector box (4 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out)
Samsung LCD TV (has 3 HDMI in ports)
Samsung DVD Home Theater system (receiver only has 1 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out)
Sony Blu Ray player
Direct TV cable/DVR box (1 HDMI port)
Apple TV

What model number is the Samsung DVD HT system? It probably doesn't support TrueHD or Master Audio. Probably doesn't support 1080P either. Does it have any optical or coaxial digital inputs? Some of these htib's only support stereo from an outside source, like a Bluray player and cable box..

I'd try and hook the cable box and bluray player to the display with hdmi for video and to the Samsung for audio with optical/coaxial if it's available. But we need that model number.

It's a Samsung HT-TX75. It's old. It does have an optical input. What are my best options here other than buying a new A/V receiver? Thank you!!

I think it will support 5.1 audio and video from external sources so you should be able to connect the Bluray player and DTV box to the hdmi switcher and the switcher to the Samsung. Make sure the BR player and DTV audio settings are set to output 5.1. If this doesn't work, try eliminating the switcher box and connect the DTV straight to the Samsung. If it still doesn't work then there's a setting wrong in the DTV box or the Samsung.

Also, on pg 55 of the Samsungs manual it says to turn Off HDMI Audio in order to hear sound through the Samungs speakers. Turn it On if using the tv's speakers.

From the manual:

• ON : Both video and audio signals are transmitted over the HDMI connection cable, and audio
is output through your TV speakers only.

• OFF : Video is transmitted over the HDMI connection cable only, and audio is output through
the home theater speakers only.

• ON : Both video and audio signals are transmitted over the HDMI connection cable, and audio
is output through your TV speakers only.

OK, so everything is fine except when I try to play a Blu-Ray player, I can hear the sound coming through the home theater but cannot get a picture to display. then it says "not supported mode" on the screen.

Are you using the switcher? if so, connect the hdmi cable from the BluRay player straight to the receivers hdmi input and see if you get a picture. If so then the switcher is the problem. If not then maybe it's the video output setting in the BluRays setup menu.
