This is one of my favorite comedies.

One scene in particular has a remarkably long, sustained take of Harold quietly reacting while his mother does a slow burn behind him.  It's really a gem of sustained acting and directing, all within a single moment.

One of my favorite movies of all time and the film my wife and I watched on our first date. She still recommends it to people.

Criterion’s BD and DVD editions of HAROLD AND MAUDE will now be released on 6/12/12 and not 4/17/12

Wow. Do we know why? I guess it doesn't matter - just curious.

I'm guessing they have a technical issue to work out. The original release is about a month away, which is usually about the time the final QC is being done on a disc.

Nope - the press release just says there's been a delay and "sorry for the inconvenience"...

Wait a tic... isn't there usually a Barnes and Noble Criterion sale in June? Or is it July and November and not June and November?

July and November. Usually.

Ooh, new extras. A tempting upgrade. . .

Maybe the delay will allow for the original trailers to be included. They were previously on the bare-bones Paramount disc, it would be nice to have them ported over.

DVDBeaver's review is up, and it looks like the trailers aren't there:

That's sad to hear. Luckily, I found someone dumping the old Paramount version and I got it cheap. Best of both worlds.
