The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Thanks Mike.  Some of what you had listed as re-releases I think are new releases including:

I am replacing my DVDs of John Tucker and Never Been Kissed with the new Blu-ray releases.  Tony Robbins is attempting to motivate me to get Shallow Hal, but with those two catalog titles and Moneyball, I have hit by budget limit this week.  Thankfully I previously purchased When Harry Met Sally and Legally Blonde when they were WM exclusives for $9.99.

I'm really looking forward to Moneyball.  I didn't see it in the theaters, but really wanted to.  Its already shipped from Amazon, so Tuesday can't come soon enough!

I think you'll be really impressed with it, Adam.  I went in with zero expectations and thinking I wouldn't like it due to Jonah Hill, but he's quite subdued and Brad Pitt is...well...Brad Pitt.

If the funds allow it, I'd love to pick up the new GI Joe set and Boardwalk Empire.  I know I won't get to them for a year or three, but...ya know...  :)

Thanks for setting the record straight, Adam.  I haven't been this confused putting together a WRU in a looooooong time.

You and me both!  Can't believe I didn't get to that one in the theater (although I'm not sure why, my track record is pretty bad).  But it's on a subject near and dear to me and reviews were quite good.  Even my wife says she'll watch it:  a film about...sabremetrics!  Oh yeah....she just thinks it's "a film with Brad Pitt."  biggrin.gif

Nothing for me this week. I think the end of this month and February will be big for me, though. I have a feeling this year will be very expensive, as I intend on picking up a lot of the Universal 100 blu-rays.

Well, we know American Graffiti is a reissued since it was just released last year in May.  Anything, for them to place that Universal 100th Anniversary tag on it.

Hope to eventually have some Fox reviews you can link to, Mike. Just waiting for the review discs to arrive!

Thanks for the RoundUp as always.

I'll be picking up Boardwalk Empire: Season One and probably Moneyball ($15 with that trade-in at BB is too tempting).

For those who haven't seen Moneyball yet, you're in for a treat because it's one of the better movies of the year.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

The Hellstrom Chronicle kind of calls to me, but I'm wondering if I ever even saw it back in the day.

I never acquired A Bronx Tale -- maybe it's time?  Already got the "Legacy Edition" Imitation of Life set, otherwise that would be a buy.

Once again, mass confusion on the Upgrade and Save deal at Best Buy. Nobody there (again) seemed to know how to operate the program (managements fault, not the workers). Finally after I got everything rung up, the clerk told me the coupons were not good for items on sale (despited the contrary listed on the website and their instore ad). Anyway, she "took care of it" for me and knocked 5 dollars off each one, after having to get a write down code of some sort from her manager 5 different times.......

A pain in the rear, but still worth it as I got some good bargains.

Man...I hope this entire anniversary year for Universal doesn't make it this difficult to figure out what each week's new releases really are.

Hawaii Five-O - The Complete Series is NOT complete, it does not have the Bored, she hung herself Episode! rolleyes.gif
post #14 of 24

The website terms and conditions does say, "Markdown taken from original price," which I would read as not the sale price. But good job getting them to remove the $5 from the sale price!

EDIT: Ah, I see the ad is seeming to say otherwise with the "examples."

The BB trade in went painlessly for me. Went for Apes and Bosses. Not sure if I will go nuts with this deal though.

Yeah.  I'm thinking of trying out the BB "Upgrade & Save" program for the first time myself.

I'll definitely be picking up the combo pack of Moneyball that way.

I'm currently checking out what other Blu-ray discs are eligible for the program.  Here's a link to the titles at BestBuy.com.

EDIT:  Huh.  John Adams for $24.99 ($19.99 after coupon).  Can't imagine a much better deal than that!

The review for There Be Dragons can be found here.

No problem doing the Best Buy upgrade or cashing in the coupon for me either.

And in the OP.

Here's a little tease:  Matt will not be ranking What's Your Number? on his list of best films of 2011.  Just sayin'...

Schlepped into BB last night for Boardwalk Empire and I was half surprised to see they still had a Blu-ray copy with the exclusive disc attached.  Grabbed that and the Game of Thrones sampler disc.  They did not have the new GI Joe set (not surprised), though Wal-Mart did for $19.99.  Passed on it for now since I haven't watched what I currently have.

BB also had seasons of The Sopranos on BD for super cheap ($24.99, IIRC).  I passed, but in case someone else in interested.

Continues to be confusion on the Upgrade and Save. The list linked now points to the Oct sale list (I'm not sure if that's what it looked like when you linked or not).

Practically the answer is that almost every non music Bluray priced 9.99 or higher should be eligible for the discount. At MOST stores that's the way it seems to be actually
working now and the $5 is taken from the price that rings up at the register. There are of course still stores and even different managers in the same store who seem to using
different criteria so some people are having to work harder to get the full discount. The 'regular price' still seems to a little sticky is some stores, but I've seen multiple reports
of people who have called 1-800 Customer Service and had that clarified in store. One different explanation I've seen about BBY definition of Regular Price is that is was meant
to apply to BBY Regular selling price in order to not allow a Pricematch plus another BB coupon. Unfortunately the definition continues to haunt BBY sales and allow stores to
sometimes do their own interpretation even when it flies in the face of logic.

The pricematch + coupon thing actually makes sense to me an follows many other stores official policy of Store coupon use though the actual policy isn't always followed
exactly as written. Target very specifically states that PM should only be applied after Target coupons are deducted from the sales price (essentially you get the lower price of
using TQ or the PM but not both), but manufacturers coupon are taken after the PM. Best Buy should also always allow the use of MQ regardless and sales and promotions
since corporate has stated more than once that legitimate MQ should be treated Same as Cash -- so using some of the $3 MQ in addition to the $5 BBY Discount should be
possible, but that's going to be more trouble since almost all BBY systems require manually entering MQ rather than just scanning like Walmart, Target, etc POS computers allow.
