Hal Ashby’s Harold and Maude, a dark comedy with poignant underpinnings, was a film much misunderstood in its day. Reviled for its February-December love affair (much older woman, very young...
Man on a Ledge plummets onto Blu-ray this week with an edition that presents the picture and sound as well as possible, along with a minimum of special features. The movie itself is hard to...
The most infamously unsuccessful movie at the box-office thus far in 2012 (though Battleship and Dark Shadows may give it some competition), Andrew Stanton’s John Carter mixes elements of...
What can I say? I love 3D! From the moment I began watching 3D content in my home I quickly discovered that I needed more content. I suspect that those of you just purchasing...
Smokey and the Bandit drives onto Blu-ray in a nice edition that can really take the viewer back to 1977 for 90 minutes of sheer moviemaking fun. The Blu-ray comes with the same HD transfer...
Generally, which brands are the best quality laptops? I'm looking for a cheap, basic laptop for about $350 or less. 2-4 GB of Ram and 250 GB hard drive. Thanks.
I think your going to have a problem finding Cheap & Quality in the same laptop. Look for something from Lenovo, perhaps refurbished. Lenovo builds a solid machine. Dell is good too, but the cheaper laptops are well, built cheaper. HP is junk as is Toshiba, those two require more repairs then most.
I personally hate Dell Laptops and had nothing but problems with the 3 I owned but they are cheap. The HP Laptops we had sub $500 last 3-4 years of kid use which I give some kudos too. Asus make a decent mini laptop and they are pretty cheap. If you are going to pay $350 your not going to get a real long life 2-3 years before they are so slow that you just don't want to use them anymore. Esp if running full windows version.
I bought an Alienware this year, shocking I'm sure to those who know my love of all things Apple, but the MBP was not cutting it for 2011 games. The AW is everything I had hoped for and I was satisfied with the $1400 price I paid for a scratch and dent one in the Dell Outlet. There are some things that still seem flimsy (like the keyboard and ill advised 'hotkey' bar above the keyboard, but otherwise no complaints.
But at 9 pounds, it's a real commitment to carry around and at $1400 it's double the price what most non gamers would ever think of buying.
This was the laptop I bought fo my son to replace his cheapo one. Deticated graphics, High res screen, and only 3.5 pounds. It is a screamer. Plays minecraft like no ones business. My son is adicted.
OK. The ones I'm looking at are Windows 7 Home Premium. This is a second computer for my wife to use. I don't need anything as elaborate as that one. She willl just use it for E-mail, internet browsing, and presentations when she is assisting teaching classes(once or twice a year). From what I've been reading, we only need a laptop with 2-4 GB of Ram memory, and 250 GB hard drive. Does that sound right?
After a few attempts to work with cheap laptops (you know, those unknown brands) I went back to major brands. There is always something wrong with those very cheap machines. A good indicator of the quality is the keyboard. Often very bad on those cheap machines.
I now went back to Dell (sorry David) and I'm very satisfied. And a VERY good keyboard Dell has some pretty cheap low-end laptops.
Hey don't be sorry they do make cheap laptops I don't like thier servers either. Most of the issues I had where with there "expensive" laptops. I did have one of the $500-$600 Dell laptops for work that no mater what I did it kept going.
