Hello,

I have just completed a very short X-Men: First Class parody:

Please, tell me what you think!

Thanks,
Rob.

Welcome to HTF. Not exactly my cup of tea but looks like you had fun making it! Keep it up, work a bit on the pacing maybe!

Thanks for replying, I do really appreciate it when people make the effort and are honest with me.
Sorry if we wasted your time, I know how amateur it is lol.

Thanks again,
Rob.

P.s. Oh and sorry for spamming your board! I really should have introduced myself first.

I enjoyed it, though I haven't seen the movie. A bit or two I didn't get because of that, but I know the characters enough that it made sense.

Wow I would never watch a parody of a film I hadn't seen, thanks so much!

Not a waste of time at all. And yes, we get a ton of what we call "one hit wonders" here who post something of interest (or, more usually, a pre-purchase burning a hole in their pocket question) and then never show up again even to read the answers, but your post seemed like it had a high degree of likelihood of a return visit.

Plus a lot of us here are frustrated artistes and wanna be filmmakers too =) So it's great to see efforts by folks to get off the couch and put something together and suffer the slings of arrows of criticism. It's important that you do that so you can really figure out what YOU want to create and if what you have made really answers that. Don't get too depressed over the suggestions or even the apathy from folks who aren't as into it as you are, if it makes you happy that's what matters. Criticism is a tool that can really help you focus if you listen to it but not too much... Those tossing out suggestions likely don't have a clue about your hopes, aspirations, or even the restrictions you suffered through in making it, but it's picking out the stuff that makes sense to you because you do know those things that really helps.

So, thanks for sharing, really!, and welcome to HTF, we hope you keep coming back.

About that whole 'vision thing:

Thank you so much, I think you're incredibly wise to be able to give such advice, and I now feel a lot more relieved about the criticism, and it's put a smile on my face smile.gif
Even though we were restricted in a lot of ways I think that might explain the reasons for a poor video but it doesn't excuse them, so I'm constantly looking for advice like yours on how to improve and keep on going.

And thank you for the welcome, I think if there's more people like you around, I'll be here for a long time biggrin.gif

Rob.

P.s. Read the article and watched the video, brilliant stuff, I've bookmarked both of them!
