I had to do a double-take last evening while at a party.
I was staying with some dear friends in New York. I have
been trying for years to get them to upgrade their non-HD
display and put in a real home theater.
They have more than enough finances to do something
huge, the problem is, they just don't have the space within
their condo. The largest wall they have is taken up by a
gorgeous oak shelving unit (wall to wall) combined with a
fold-out bar.
Anyhow, last night they told me that they borrowed a
Blu-ray and had watched it. I didn't know how such a
thing was possible. It was then they showed me their
Blu-ray player. It was wired through RCA jacks into
the input of their VCR which was being fed to their display.
Quite a remarkable idea that I had completely overlooked.
Of course, everything they were watching was being
downcoverted to standard def, but for them, it was just
business as usual.
