The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Sorry for the delay.

And, I'm still working on the links to the Amazon titles and the links to any HTF reviews of this week's new releases.

Done!  Thanks for your patience!  biggrin.gif

Thanks Mike!  I'm down for Rocketeer and Kung Fu Panda 2 3D (Best Buy).  I think I'll wait for Apes to go on sale.

Apes is a definite rental for me.  May check out some of the catalog sale titles this week since those prices are pretty low.  Thanks for all your work Mike!

Frys store ads lists Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes for $19.99 this week.

I'm extremely curious about Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  It is yet another film that I let get by me this summer.

But I think I'll wait for the inevitable price drops, too.

Fright Night (blind buy) + Kung Fu Panda 2 + Rise of the Planet of the Apes + Rocketeer. Last big Summer movie on blu weekend. My MasterCard can get a breather after this weekend. Thanks for the roundup Mike.
I would like Meet Me in St Louis, but not at that price.

Once again, Mike, I'll have to beg your indulgence as five of the six titles assigned to me for review have not yet arrived. So look all week for reviews to pop up for Stars and Stripes Forever, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Tokyo Drifter, Branded to Kill, and The Rocketeer.

Fright Night (1985) is my blind buy and I wish it would hurry up and get here already.  Meet Me in St. Louis, soon, hopefully at a somewhat lower price point.  Seven Chances and Sherlock Holmes definitely look inviting, but damn, they're just going to have to wait a bit.

I'll be picking up Intruder this week.

I never recommend blind buys but I think Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is well worth a rental. I wish there were more summer movies that were as entertaining, had thought put into them and had good performances as Apes did.

Thanks for the prices! smile.gif

The Rocketeer is in the ole' Netflix queue since I've never seen it (shocking, right?).  Rise of the Planet of the Apes at some point when the price drops-maybe in the next few weeks.  The BF wants to see it and he's here until the beginning of January...

Not too shocking for me, Jason.  I've never seen it either.

It IS hard to admit that aroun the hallf of the HTF, though.  There are some people here who are REALLY passionate about that film...

I really don't know that much about it.

Kung fu Panda 3d for me as well as Meet Me in St Louis.

I'll be looking for Fright Night 3D and The Rocketeer.....that's pretty much it for me.

RE: The Rocketeer

It's a throwback to the old serials of the 30's and 40's (Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers)...I haven't seen it in years, but remember it was visually stunning but I think the story kind of dragged in parts.  Nowhere NEAR as campy as the Flash Gordon movie...might have to check it out again to see how it's aged.

Fred Meyer's has Rise of the Planet of Apes Bluray Combo Pack listed for $19.99 plus free Razor and Popcorn with purchase!

If Amazon drops the price on Rise of the Planet of the Apes to $19.99...I might bite!

They dropped the price of The Help and Cowboys & Aliens from $22.99 to $19.99 last week...but, of course, they were matching the advertised price of Target.  I don't know if they'll do the same to match Fred Meyers or Fry's.

Thanks for the roundup! The Rocketeer couldn't wait for Christmas for me (had it on pre-order from Amazon since it was released). One of my favorite movies.

This isn't a bad reason to watch, either.

Hey, Dave!  Just an FYI...I was going to check out the link in your sig...but I got a 404 error message.  I wanted to see how your system stacked up against DVD Profiler...

where did you order fright night 1985 bluray from? I hear its only avail online by sony for $30 plus shipping.
is there any other placing selling it for less?

Ordered directly from SAE (Screen Archives Entertainment), the distributor of Twilight Time DVDs and Blu-rays.  Go here and scroll down to New DVD Releases:

http://www.screenarchives.com/index.cfm

Mike, do we have a "portal" for them?  Sorry I hadn't thought to look for one before.

thanks Chas,
too rich for my budget until at least after Christmas. The cover art looks really cool with the bluray box.
I booked marked it, lets see if they still have some left in 1 month.

This week I preordered Rocketeer, also one of my favorites. For a while it was one of the best/ most faithful comic book movies until the Xmen, Spider-man, and Nolan Batman movies.

There's a standard $5 coupon for Kung Fu Panda 2 out there as well. The Best Buy coupon says "not valid with other coupons or offers," but if anyone has any luck stacking 'em, let us know. $18 for the 4-disc set (and a toy if yer lucky) might be worth a splurge.
