Highly recommended non-3D blu-ray player

We're looking for a blu-ray player to connect with our 42" Panasonic plasma. It's a simple bedroom set up with Netflix streaming, no 3D or surround (yet!).

I see the prices are dropping but does a particular model stand out?

I have a Panasonic player that's a few years old now, and I love it.  Haven't had any problems with it whatsoever.

Just in case you didn't know - all "3D" Blu-Ray players are perfectly backwards compatible with 2D setups.  If you have any interest in going 3D in the not too distant future, it wouldn't be a bad idea to consider getting a 3D capable player.

Best Buy currently has a non-3D Panasonic for about $80.

Sony also has good players, but I would try to avoid any of the real cheap players from low-end manufacturers.

If you will not want 3D down the road, buy the Panasonic BD75. If you may want 3D buy the Pan. BDP110.
