How much Ram Memory is needed ?

Is 2 GB of Ram memory enough to run a Power Point presentation? If not, it says it can be upgraded to 8 GB of Ram memory, which appears to cost about $20. I'm looking to buy my wife a cheap laptop for Xmas and need some advice. The Compaq laptop I'm looking at has 2 GB of Ram memory, and a 250 GB hard drive. The other uses will be E-mail and internet browsing. Thanks.

2G would do it..  but RAM is at record lows.   I'd consider 4G the floor, 8G fine.

Thanks. The hard drive size has no bearing on Power Point presentations, does it?

No.. you'd have to have a monstrous powerpoint for that to figure in

Thanks. I think I'll get that Compaq and add Ram memory if needed.
