Did something change yesterday in the "Pause Live Updates" / "Show Live Updates" function? I always had that toggle set to "Pause", and I'd be notified of new posts by a small banner that said "View New Updates" or some such. Clicking that would refresh the list of threads, moving those with new posts to the top.
Yesterday evening I found the page refreshing itself and I saw that the "Show Live Updates" was the highlighted choice, so I changed it back to "Pause". I remember something causing that subject to come up for a few of us a month or two back, which is when I learned what that setting was for. Anyway, I soon found I hadn't fixed it, but it took a little time and experimenting for me to realize that the setting would no longer stay where I put it.
When I click on the "Pause" selection, it's highlighted and appears that I've changed it, but it changes right back to "Show" whenever any of these things happen: (1) when I click anywhere on the page (even a blank area) if a new post has been made; (2) when I click on another browser tab (I'm using Chrome) then return to the HTF tab; and (3) when I minimize the browser and restore it. If I'm staring at the page and a new post is made, I can see the "View New Updates" banner briefly flash on the screen, but the threads are reordered before I can do anything about it. Bottom line, I no longer have control over displaying threads with new responses -- it's as though the function is broken, or was reprogrammed.
If I'm confusing a couple of different functions or am wrong about how any of this should work, just say the word.
