Fox's Orphans

Of all studio -Fox seems to have the most never released on video titles of all of them. Concentrating on only the 70s "orphans"- and not including films already discussed that they released but whose rights belong with others now -the Brut films, the Palomar ones-already discussed.
It seemed very encouraging when Fox began releasing a number of films never on video in the past few years either thru themselves or others-BLACK MOON, THREE WOMEN , A PERFECT COUPLE , FIGHTING MAD, THE LAST HARD MEN , ROYAL FLASH , LUCKY LADY , PEEPER , THE NICKEL RIDE and others-and then they stopped. Shout! has done an outstanding job-but the remainder of their Fox releases are either Anchor Bay rereleases or films all ready having vhs releases.
They are sitting on many exploitable films -many never seen anywhere outside of theaters . Others had other exposures-listed in " "

I've been most curious to see THE SEVEN MINUTES, THE DARWIN ADVENTURE , THE DRAGON FLIES , WELCOME HOME SOLDIER BOYS , ALEX AND THE GYPSY and ALL THIS AND WW2.

There might be a very good reason -the films may be awful, music rights , etc. Or Fox may not own them-but alot of them would seem to have some market value.

I'm fairly confident that the films owned by major studios - including these Fox titles - will be released to the home video market in some form at some point. Even the ones with music rights issues might have a future as MODs.

What worries me are the films that are not currently owned by the majors. I'm speaking of the ITC catalog, and those films released by Allied Artists that are not owned by Warners. Not to mention those Avco Embassy titles that are missing on DVD. I think Lionsgate has the North American rights to many of these films, but they don't own them outright so there's no incentive to remaster them for future exploitation via a (hypothetical) Lionsgate MOD program.

Some may not come out on physcial disc, due to music issues, as somewhere in this forum, Shout tried to get WW DIXIE DANCEKINGS, but was unable to due to music issues, ry but the MODprogram, from what I heard, is a way to go "around" that issue, so unless Fox starts a MOD program, ALL THIS AND WW2 has a very slim chance of it coming out on physical disc.

Why is anyone surprised? Fox is the worst studio ever to represent classic film and especially classic TV.
