Daily Digest Links Don't Take Me to First Unread Post?

Ever since I got an iMac (also happens on my iPad), when I click on a thread link in the daily digest it takes me to the page on which the first unread post is, but not to that post. I am taken to the top of the page and I have to search for the unread post.

When I go into Safari Preferences and click on the Privacy tab, I see that "Block cookies: From third parties and advertisers is selected. This is apparently the default choice since I haven't changed it. My other two choices are to Block Always or Never. I'm not too fond of that last choice.

Is the cookies option causing the problem?

What are the daily digests?

Anyway I have this same problem when I click on the link in an email notice on iPad.
It used to take me to the post that was in the email now it just goes to that page at the top.

The DD is an email with your subscribed thread that have replies. It comes out once a day.

I guess I get that but usually don't pay any attention to it. I just look at the instant email updates.

I had hoped to get help from forum staff, but I guess that's not going to happen. There is at least one other person with the problem.

Sorry Johnny been out of town this week.  Let me dig through my email and see if I have the same problem.  I'm kind of like Tony in that I usually just respond off the activity feed.

Wow, Johnny.  You don't get an answer within a week and you give up on us, huh?

Just so you know, we keep tabs on everything that gets reported in Feedback and pass it on to the appropriate folks who are already looking into it.  Just like anything else, issues get prioritized and sometimes you may get a "we're working on it" response and sometimes we've got a lot of other stuff going on or are maybe a little short-staffed and you might not get that courtesy.

I'm curious if anything has been learned about this issue? I haven't heard anything and the behavior is still there.

For the first time I paid attention to what is in the address bar of safari when it has arrived at the page. After the thread title and the slash, there is a number. I the three thread links I looked at all have one thing in common: the number points to the last post on the previous page. This apparently tells the browser to go to the first post on the next page. I.E. the number is 60, that means the last post on the previous page was 60 and the first post on the page the browser went to is 61.

It doesn't matter that the last new post I read before the daily digest was sent out was 63, I'm aways going to get the number that points to the last post on the previous page. This leads me to believe that this isn't a quirk of any browser, this is being done by the forum software. So far, I'm the only one to post about this. Am I the only one having the problem?

There are 30 posts per page.  So just to make sure I understand.....If you read up through post 63 (three posts into page 3), and 7 new posts are made giving you a notification on your daily digest, when you click the link you will go to post 60, the last post on the previous page.  If there are 30 new posts, instead of going to post 63, you will go to post 90, or post 60?  Do you get the same thing from your activity feed on the home page?

I'm just saying that of the three threads I took a look at today, each link had a number at the end that looked like "/60" (or another number) which is the number of the last post on the previous page. I don't use the home page much and just tried the activity links and they look a little different with the end of the link looking like : "/60#post_3891180". Once again that "60" is the last post on the previous page.

Mine are working off the last daily digest.  Here is an example of the links.  In the email it shows:

The Music Man Blu-Ray which is this link: x.hometheaterforum.com/y.z?l=http%3a%2f%2fwww.hometheaterforum.com%2ft%2f297631%2fthe-music-man-blu-ray%2f30%3futm_campaign%3dsubscription%26utm_source%3dsubscription_digest%26utm_medium%3demail%23post_3865226&r=758909348&d=25251&p=1&t=h

When I click on it it redirects me to this page: http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/297631/the-music-man-blu-ray/30 (there is your 30) but it puts me in the middle of the page which is the correct spot.

What version of Safari are you using and what are the OSs?

Johnny-

I opened a ticket on this two weeks ago and engineering has been unable to duplicate it.  Do you have any video screen capture software (Jing or similar) that you can use to take a quick video of what you are seeing?
