We've seen stickers and comments on Blu-ray Discs saying that they contain a 'Director Approved Transfers', or some similar wording.
There's recently been discussion about the new Blu-ray Disc of Pulp Fiction - a release which says QT approved the transfer, but which some people don't like the look of.
They argue that a director can create a transfer, but that all sorts of naughty things can be done to that transfer before we get the Blu-ray Disc, to the extent that 'Director Approved Transfer' doesn't really mean anything at all, at least in relation to how the Blu-ray Disc looks.
Obviously, I understand that you can't comment on individual releases (other than the ones you've worked on personally), but do you have any knowledge as to what is standard practice?
Are most directors happy that the Blu-ray Disc looks like the transfer they approved? Is it normal for studios to tamper with the look of a transfer after a director has approved it?
