Yesterday I bought a Sony STR-DH720 receiver. I have 5.1 surround set-up in my place and after hooking everything up, it sounded great. I had no issues with it until I turned on the TV this morning. I noticed the sound was "off" as the main sound that should only be coming out of the Center speaker was coming out of all 3 front speakers, the sound was louder than it should have been, and the display on the front of the receiver said "LPCM 48 Hz".
After I went into the GUI Menu, and came back to the TV, everything sounded better, and I noticed the display now read "Dolby Digital 5.1". This sound and display is what it was like last night after setting everything up, and how I want it to be permanently, but each time I turn off the receiver it turns back on in LPCM mode.
Does anyone know how I can make sure that the sound is always in Dolby Digital as this sounds the best and most true srround sound? I don't want to have to switch it back every time I turn on my receiver. Plus, I am not even sure how I changed it back b/c I didn't do anything in GUI mode before exiting and having the sound issues fixed.
Any help that can be provided would be grealy appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
